‘Wylde Britain’ is a unique live concert experience - an inspiring one-hour musical journey from Shetland to Land’s End. UK-charts bassoon soloist Laurence Perkins explores a wide range of classical and traditional folk melodies, alongside natural soundscapes in surround-sound, and spoken legends. The places visited include Loch Ness, Hadrian’s Wall, a Cheshire wizard, Ireland, Snowdon in Wales, Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest, a Sussex woodland, a Cornish mermaid and the wild coast at Land’s End. The stories have been specially recorded by world-famous actors - Dame Judi Dench (Golden Globe awards), Sir Derek Jacobi (I Claudius, Cyrano de Bergerac), Sandra Voe (Shetland, Midsomer Murders), James Quinn (Coronation Street), Stephen Bill (award-winning BBC script writer) and Sef Townsend (storyteller for international festivals). The music has been released by Heritage Records on 10th August, and is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and other leading streaming platforms. The concerts are fundraisers for UK-Med and their vital medical aid for survivors in Ukraine, war zones worldwide and natural disasters including Venezuela.
