This week there will be no prayer meeting - instead, we have our three home groups.
Kiltarlity Group - led by Finlay Mackenzie - Wednesday at 7.30pm at Christine and Finlay's
Kirkhill & Abriachan Group - led by Allan and Rob - Wednesday at 7.30pm at Burnett's
Beauly Group - led by Stephen Allison - Thursday 7pm at Earle's
It was suggested that this week we might base the study on the evening sermon - given the topic generated a lot of discussion. Here are the suggested questions for this week (these are just a guide for discussion):
Read Acts 1:12–26
1. When you need guidance about an important decision, where do you usually turn first?
2. Where does Peter begin? Why do you think we can be tempted to look for a special sign or feeling from God instead of first asking, “What has God already said?”
3. The disciples have Scripture, but Scripture doesn't tell them specifically whether Joseph or Matthias should be chosen. How does the passage help us understand the place of wisdom, common sense and the counsel of other Christians in making decisions?
4. The disciples pray, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen.” What does this prayer teach us? How might this change the way we pray when we face difficult decisions?
5. Which part of the pattern ( Scripture, wisdom, prayer, or trusting God's providence) do you find easiest, and which do you find hardest? What might it look like to put this into practice in a decision you are facing?
