For those of you struggling to find the Zoom link for our meeting tomorrow, it’s at the top of the agenda that should have been sent round by LM clerks on Wednesday. (It’s not in the covering email, as this is considered too risky for Zoom-bombing, or whatever the phrase is.)

NB Engineering works on the line between Clapham Junction and Kew Bridge might complicate journeys for those planning to attend in person, so check before you travel.

Next Sunday, 19 November, we meet at Harrow for our regular business meeting. Do try to come along if you can…your local meeting clerk will have all the details.

The agenda will be coming round soon, but I can tell you in advance that our speaker for the special topic will be Judy Barber. Judy has recently returned to the UK following service as an Ecumenical Accompanier in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), and she will be able to tell you something of her experiences there, and take questions afterwards. Few of our special topics have been quite so "topical".

The statement issued by Quakers in Britain yesterday, about the current violence in Israel and Gaza.

As of 11 October 2023, more than 1,200 people have been killed in Israel and more than 900 in Gaza. Over 2,700 people have been injured in Israel, and 4,250 in Gaza. To Jordans, on a glorious mid-autumn morning, for the memorial meeting of Marion Paxton. Born in Dresden, she fled N**i Germany to come to Britain in the 1930s, and lived to 102. A remarkable and full life.

Excellent meeting (for worship for business) at Hammersmith QMH where we considered the challenge of remaining faithful to our Peace testimony in a time of war; and united behind a commitment to join a proposed pan-London Area Meeting serving the needs of all Quakers in the capital. We hold in the light those tasked with working out the finer details of how this will operate. It’s going to be quite a bit of work.

Area Meeting this time is at Ealing Quaker Meeting House on Sunday 16 July. We will be considering the special topic of "redressing inequalities”, and we'll also have an update on where things have got to with plans for establishing a pan-London Area Meeting. Should be very interesting.

You will be based in Hammersmith and be the face of Quakers in the building during the working week. We are open to flexible working, although occasional out of hours work may be required.
