It's Volunteers Week! Without our volunteers we literally couldn't do any of the things that we do. From church services and governance groups to community projects and logistics, volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work. We are SO thankful to every single person who gives their time, energy, expertise and experience. We are richer for every one of you! If you want to find out more about flexible and inclusive opportunities to volunteer at Oasis Bath, get in touch by emailing [email protected], we'd love to find a role that's just right for you.

It was great to be at the Better Connections event at Bath Guildhall today. We heard an inspiring talk from Deborah Hale MBE, met loads of amazing organisations and charities working in BANES, and enjoyed a very tasty lunched provided by Southside. Thank you to the Welcome Community Network for organising the event!

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month! Pride is both a celebration and a protest, celebrating the amazing way LGBTQ+ people are created, and standing for the dignity and rights of everyone at a time when LGBTQ+ people feel under threat. We will be at Bath Pride on Saturday 22nd August, and joining with other affirming churches for a Pride Celebration service on Sunday 23rd August, 2pm here at Oasis Church Bath. Save the date!

A little silliness in the office today! There was fierce debate as to who popped the most balloons…who do you think won?!

Over the last few weeks Claire and Jo from our staff team have had the joy of visiting Landrace Bakery and Landrace Upstairs staff briefings, to tell the team about how our partnership with them is making a difference to people’s lives.

Landrace work with us to provide high quality bread for our pantry members. This bread is made with their own, locally milled grain and goes down a storm with our members! They also collect an optional donation from each bill paid in their restaurant, which helps us cover some of our food costs.

More than helping us with money and bread, there is something so wonderful about people who are experiencing food insecurity being given access to artisan bread that is the very best of the best. That is our dignity in practice principles at work and is what our pantry members deserve. We are so grateful for our friendship and partnership with Landrace. (If you’re local, you absolutely MUST try one of their cinnamon buns!)

Join us at Oasis Church Bath this Sunday to celebrate the day when a scared and grieving group of Jesus’ friends turned into a multi-national community of hope, filled with God’s love and suddenly able to speak to people of every tribe, language and nation! Everybody of all ages is welcome as we explore the story, talk about what the ‘Holy Spirit’ means, and celebrate the birthday of the Church. Join us in person from 10am for a 10.30am start, this service will not be livestreamed.

💛 A Million Acts of Hope starts with us 💛

Every day in Bath, we see acts of kindness, care and connection—often quiet, but incredibly powerful. From sharing meals and supporting neighbours, to volunteering, mentoring and creating spaces where everyone belongs… these are the moments that build stronger communities.

At our community pantries and in our church community, we’ve been sharing what makes us feel hopeful—and it’s been a powerful reminder of just how much good is happening around us every day.

A Million Acts of Hope is a chance to celebrate these everyday actions and shine a light on the people making them happen. At a time when division can feel loud, we believe hope is louder—when we choose to see it.

✨ Let’s make the unseen visible
✨ Let’s celebrate what unites us
✨ Let’s share the hope happening right here in Bath

This week at Oasis Church Bath we are welcoming Dr Chris Southgate, poet and Professor of Christian Theodicy (a fancy word that basically means to explain why God allows suffering) at the University of Exeter. Chris will be exploring with us how Christian faith and theology might help or hinder us in responding to the environmental crisis, and how different theological approaches might help us to tackle this challenge to human wellbeing. Join us in person from 10am for a 10.30am start, or to sign-up for the livestream go to www.oasisbath.org/sundays

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our application to The National Lottery Community Fund has been successful! We will receive three years of funding to cover the majority of our pantry core running costs such as salaries. A grant of this size is absolutely game-changing for us, and means we can continue to run our food pantries for the foreseeable future. A HUGE thank you to the lottery!
