Today, some of our Afghan members came and cooked lunch for the rest of our pantry members, using ingredients found at our pantries. We've eaten DELICIOUS food that has been freshly prepared, and are blown away by their kindness!

This week is refugee week and we are proud to partner with Bath Welcomes Refugees, hosting some of their events at Oasis this week. They have a wide variety of events happening - do go and check out their posts to see how they are celebrating!

Our community worker manager, Claire, also visited one of their community groups recently, to talk to attendees about what foods are culturally important to them, so we can make sure we provide some of these at our food pantries.
She had some brilliant discussions, and some of the attendees have offered to come and cook for our pantry members to share their favourite foods. What a brilliant way to build community!

Did Jesus really walk on water? Join us this Sunday at Oasis Church Bath as Amanda Higgin helps us look at this baffling story of when Jesus broke physics, and one of his friends tried to join in. We’ll think about what miraculous stories can mean to us, and what we might learn today from this quick stroll across a lake. Oasis Kids and Youth will be meeting in their groups. It was great to welcome Saskia Heijltjes and Joanna Wright from Bath & N.E. Somerset Green Party to our city centre food pantry today. As BANES councillors for the Lambridge ward, they came to find out more about how our food pantry runs, and how upcoming changes to vouchers families receive in the school holidays might impact our members.

Whilst we’re passionate about meeting people’s immediate needs through our pantry, we’re also just as passionate about tackling the reasons for that need in the first place, and engaging with politicians and politics is absolutely essential in doing that!

Our Community Director Jo (on the right in the picture), enjoyed visiting St Mark’s School this morning to speak about Pride month as part of their assembly. She was invited by their chaplain Sam Packer (on the left in the picture).

Jo shared a bit of her own story as someone who has gone from being excluded and discriminated against in a non-affirming church, to leading an affirming church (Oasis Church Bath). She also reminded the students of the work there is still to do to make the world safer for LGBTQ+ people, and how Pride month is an important part of raising awareness of that.

This Sunday at Oasis Church Bath it's Community Sunday, which means we're not gathering all together for a church service in the morning. Instead we have the option to meet in smaller groups (check your community news email for details of brunch at Paul and Gaynor's house!) or enjoy a day of rest. However, we will be meeting together in the evening for our Church Forum, with a special focus on our under 18s provision at Oasis. If you call Oasis Church Bath your church, please do come along either in person at 8pm at Oasis, or via Zoom - again details are in Community News. From church services and governance groups to community projects and logistics, volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work. We are SO thankful to every single person who gives their time, energy, expertise and experience. We are richer for every one of you! It was great to be at the Better Connections event at Bath Guildhall today. We heard an inspiring talk from Deborah Hale MBE, met loads of amazing organisations and charities working in BANES, and enjoyed a very tasty lunched provided by Southside. June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month! Pride is both a celebration and a protest, celebrating the amazing way LGBTQ+ people are created, and standing for the dignity and rights of everyone at a time when LGBTQ+ people feel under threat. We will be at Bath Pride on Saturday 22nd August, and joining with other affirming churches for a Pride Celebration service on Sunday 23rd August, 2pm here at Oasis Church Bath. Save the date!
