250 years ago, America declared independence from Great Britain — and here at Bath Abbey, the stories of that extraordinary moment in history still echo through our walls.

This July, discover the lives of Patriots and Loyalists buried within the Abbey, and uncover the personal stories, conflicts and choices that shaped the American Revolutionary War.

📍 Special guided tours run twice daily throughout July

As we get ready for 2026 (Mon 1 June – Sun 7 June), we’re celebrating the incredible people who generously give their time, talents and care to support the Abbey and welcome thousands of visitors each year.

Looking for a creative activity for your family in Bath this May half term?🎨✨

We’re partnering with artist Paula Ogun Hector to celebrate the power of Carnival to bring people together through dance and music.

Help decorate our giant community canvas using fabric and card, with support from Abbey staff and volunteers throughout the day.

🎟️ Free with entry during regular Abbey opening hours
📅 Until Fri 29 May
🕙 10.00am - 4.00pm

The finished Carnival Collage will be on display 22–23 June alongside a new textile artwork by Paula, celebrating the contribution of the Windrush generation to the UK 78 years ago from the Caribbean.

This morning we gathered outside Bath Abbey to celebrate Ascension Day with Morning Prayer.

Prayers were led from outside the Abbey walls, while our Chamber Choir lifted their voices from the Bishop’s Balcony above — a beautiful reminder to “lift up your hearts” on this holy day. ✨
