Today I spent sometime exploring Easter with infant children. First we used objects to describe a person. One boy chose the butterfly beads because he liked every side of it - we decided we like all the parts of some people. Another chooses a blue sparkly Pom Pom. I thought he was going to say his friend made him feel sparkly but instead he described how awesome his friend was then said he’d chosen blue because he was sad he didn’t see him so much these days. Yellow meant fun and happy. Purple sticks represented grumpy people apparently ☺️ then we thought what God might be like - king was the main suggestion. We looked at the days through Easter story - lots of children wanted to talk about the feelings they might have through grief - happy was a surprise to the teachers until we explored that death sometimes means no more pain - so that can make us happy. When we’d talked through the story we thought again what the story might tell us about Jesus and God. We ended with a prayer. Lovely time with them! Perk of my job!
