Today I spent sometime exploring Easter with infant children. First we used objects to describe a person. One boy chose the butterfly beads because he liked every side of it - we decided we like all the parts of some people. Another chooses a blue sparkly Pom Pom. I thought he was going to say his friend made him feel sparkly but instead he described how awesome his friend was then said he’d chosen blue because he was sad he didn’t see him so much these days. Yellow meant fun and happy. Purple sticks represented grumpy people apparently ☺️ then we thought what God might be like - king was the main suggestion. We looked at the days through Easter story - lots of children wanted to talk about the feelings they might have through grief - happy was a surprise to the teachers until we explored that death sometimes means no more pain - so that can make us happy. When we’d talked through the story we thought again what the story might tell us about Jesus and God. We ended with a prayer. Lovely time with them! Perk of my job!

Mark 12:30
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind and with all your strength.”

What do you do that gets you moving?!

I always look forward to September - the new start, the freshness. I love summer but I also love the colours that autumn brings and the promise of a new academic year. But this September I have found hard - a new job with new things to learn, a ‘normal’ amount of letters from various schools, as well as music and dancing logistics… plus other personal stuff we’re juggling. But tonight Strictly starts! I love dancing. I love the reminder that every sense can be involved in life. I love knowing that advent is coming… I love the promise. Each day has promise and potential. I wonder what ‘new things’ are bubbling to the surface for you?!

Isaiah 43:19
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

From Bx

'The people who walk in darkness shall see a great Light—a Light that will shine on all those who live in the land of the shadow of death.' Isa 9:2 TLB

In my memories today is this picture - It was not the picture I was going to post but this one felt right.

I have recently suffered the loss of my Grandma and with this loss still close and seeing that repeated for another family I think of a speech given by Queen Elizabeth at Easter in 2020 'As dark as death can be — particularly for those suffering with grief — light and life are greater. May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future.'

I feel like worrying is something a lot of people are doing at the moment, especially with the costs of living crisis. I encourage you to read Matthew 6v25-34. One thing I'm currently worrying about is starting potty training our toddler tomorrow! However big or small our worries are, God can hold them. However good or bad our situations are, God can carry us through them. If you want to, let us know what your worries are, we'd love to pray with you.

(P.s. this picture is my dad's picture of bee orchids that grow in his lawn... how amazing is it that orchids grow in his lawn?!?!)
