You told us what you’d like to see at our Wednesday morning drop-in… and we’ve been listening!

So, we’re giving our Wednesday mornings a little makeover!

🧶 Knitting 🧵 Crocheting 🎨 Crafts ☕️ Tea & coffee 💬 A good old chat …and most importantly, a space that is yours to enjoy!

Already knitting or crocheting something? Bring it along! 🧶

Never picked up a needle or crochet hook before? That’s absolutely fine too!

We’ll have some knitting, crochet and craft materials available for you to have a go at, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced crafter.

And if crafting isn’t your thing… just come along for a cuppa and a chat! ❤️

There’s no pressure, no agenda and no expectations.

You can craft, chat, meet people, have a coffee, or simply sit and enjoy some company.

The space is yours — use it as you wish.

Tune into GATEWAY 97.8 Drive Time tomorrow to hear me chatting about all things Basildon URC and the amazing things happening in our community!

I’ll be talking about our recent Eco Church Silver Award, what we’ve been doing to care for our environment and community, and all the wonderful activities taking place at The Hive.

From our Open Door Drop-In, gardening, crafts and chatting over a cuppa, to Buzz and Bloom, our pre-loved school uniform, community projects and so much more, there really is plenty happening!

Basildon URC is about so much more than Sundays. It’s about opening our doors, bringing people together and creating a place where everyone feels welcome.

I’m looking forward to sharing our story and hopefully letting even more people know what’s available right here in our community!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR PARENTS & CARERS

Did you know that from September 2026, if your household receives Universal Credit, regardless of how much you receive, your child may now be entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS?

So, even if you only receive a small amount of Universal Credit, it is worth checking!

Please contact your child’s school or your local authority and make sure your child’s eligibility has been checked.

Don’t assume that you will automatically be informed or enrolled.

With the cost of living still affecting so many families, please share this information, someone you know may not realise that they are now entitled to this support.

Please check with your child’s school today if you haven’t already done so!
