The Handkerchief Tree is currently in full flower in the graveyard. Handkerchief trees are native to China and mentioned by Father David, a missionary to China, in 1869. Specimens were sent to Kew Gardens shortly after. It is also called the Dove Tree. It may have been planted here because the dove is associated with the Holy Spirit in the Bible. If you would like to see it at its best, drop by in the next few days. 🙂
