We have been made aware of this service from the council. Please share with anyone that might benefit from this.

šŸ”§ Need a little help with those small but important jobs around the house?

Westmorland & Furness Council’s Handy Person Scheme offers practical support for older and vulnerable residents who are unable to carry out essential household tasks themselves and don’t have anyone available to help. Eligible households can access the service up to six times a year, with labour provided free of charge (you only pay for any materials needed). (westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk)

The scheme can help with jobs such as:
āœ… Fitting grab rails and handrails
āœ… Changing light bulbs
āœ… Installing key safes and security locks
āœ… Putting up shelves, curtains or blinds
āœ… Minor plumbing repairs
āœ… Fixing trip hazards and loose carpets

The service is available to residents aged 65+, people with disabilities, those recently discharged from hospital, individuals at risk of falls, and other vulnerable residents across Westmorland and Furness. It is available whether you own your home, rent privately, or live in social housing. (westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk)

This isn’t an emergency call-out service, but it can make a real difference in helping people stay safe, secure and independent at home. ā¤ļø

Our hall on Abbey Road won’t be big enough so we are asking you dear people of Barrow to give us suggestions of where/who we could approach.
We need a venue capacity of 250 - 300 people.
Any suggestions you could give us would be greatly appreciated.
