Barrhead St Andrew's Parish Church Barrhead St Andrew's Parish Church was formed on 6th June 2013, after a merger of both Arthurlie and South and Levern Churches.

Arthurlie Church has occupied a position in the centre of the town since 1793, when it was founded by a group of local people who had originally travelled to worship in the Pollokshaws area of Glasgow. After some time holding services in the open air, they built a church on Main Street, close to where the Health Centre now stands. That church was demolished in 1967 to allow a new road and Health C

entre to be built. The new building was completed that year, on the entrance to Ralston Road. South and Levern Church was built in 1846 to house the Free Church congregation that broke from the Established Bourock Church at the disruption of 1843. The church building is nestled in the town's Main Street. In March 2013, both congregations overwhelmingly voted for the merger, with the appointment of Jim Cowan as minister. There are still spaces left on Scripture Union's Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Secondary Weekend (WWR19). This is taking place between 4th-6th September at Gowanbank and costs £110 per person. This year we have Graham and also Martyna helping with the team.

The Secondary Weekend is for young people in S1-S6. It's filled with exciting activities and opportunities to explore the Bible. The event is led by Lynne Hamilton, along with a team of accredited SU Scotland volunteers.

The weekend takes place at Gowanbank which is the perfect place in the countryside to spend a few days away. Inside there are comfortable dorms, games room and large meeting room. On site, there are lots of activities to choose from to make this a fantastic weekend.

The weekend is a chance to have fun doing activities together and learning from first class Bible teaching as well as there being plenty of time to catch up with friends and make new ones. We’d LOVE you to join us!

Activities may include: Archery, Crate Climbing, Tree Climbing, Bushcraft, Crafts, Sports and Games.

Please Note – there is accompanied travel for this weekend from Port Glasgow, Ferguslie Park, Barrhead and Newton Mearns if required.
