And so this mission comes to an end, and with it nearly 200 years of preaching the shed blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of sin, under the Methodist banner

Around 1827 a mission team came from the Primitive Methodists Churches in Preston, (probably under the influence of the Primitive Methodist founder:William Clowes) and the work began. It took almost 10 years to win the hearts of the poor, hardy folk of Banks, but eventually a Church was built in Georges Lane.
From there the work grew, as the Gospel of Grace was faithfully preached from The Word of God.
Many came to salvation, thousands down the years as the Church was moved, rebuilt and extended. The people never waivered from the founding principle that The Scriptures were the final arbiter in matters of Faith and Practice.
By 1976 The Central Methodist Church took to itself the position of arbitration. Within two years that same Church had abandoned its founding principles and emulated the secular world. In 2021 Biblical Christianity was rejected and all the horrors of this age embraced. Many who said they would stand, capitulated, as the Church embraced its Pagan future. The Church, raised up to spread Christian Holiness, left in the ashes of the Secular age.

Praise God, the Biblical truth has not altered. The all embracing Love of God has not changed. Those who realise that they fall short, in any way, of the Holiness of God can still find forgiveness of sin and reconciliation through the merits of Jesus death. Repent and believe is ever the cry of the Evangel. All humankind can still find new life in The Resurrected Jesus.

And so the Mission must begin again, in the hearts of those who are brave enough to share their faith with those who need to hear. The voice of Biblical Truth must rise again, in a world now hostile to the message it most needs to hear.
May the Lord himself bless those who are faithfull to the greatest of all commissions; to go out into the World and lift up The might name of Jesus; still the only Saviour from Sin , Still the only source of life and peace

Banks Methodist Church will hold its final services on Sunday 29th August, before closing permanently.
On that day Rev Dr Paul Blackham will lead worship at 10.30am and 4pm. ( No need to pre-book for the services)
There will be a fellowship meal after the morning service. If you would like to attend the meal please message me.
We will lift up the Mighty Name of Jesus for one last time, in a building that has given witness to the saving grace of God, for nearly 150 years. A place where many found salvation in Him !
Methodism has gone after the world, and any who live by The Word of God must let it go !!
Spiritually speaking we remain Methodists in heart, and still hold to: The Hidden Manna, The Tree of Life and The White Stone !!! But to follow after the world, in all its darkness, is not the path marked out for the people of Jesus

May The Lord Bless those who are faithful to Him.

With tears anguish of spirit, and great hope for what God will yet do !
