Today, in Acts 21:37-22:29, we looked at
1. Paul’s life before Christ (22:3-5)
2. Paul’s encounter with Christ (22:6-11)
3. Paul’s mission from Christ (22:12-21)
4. Paul’s Roman citizenship (22:22-29)

Last Sunday, we saw Paul forgoing his rights for the sake of the gospel.

Today, we saw him appealing to his rights for the sake of the gospel.

Paul trusted in the will of God, and he endured any suffering which came his way for obeying God’s will. However, Paul didn’t pursue unnecessary suffering. In the episode we studied today, we saw Paul using his citizenship as protection, not because he feared suffering, but as a God ordained gift which enabled him to continue to share the gospel.

God sovereignly orchestrated Paul’s life so that he was a Roman citizen, and thereby enjoyed the protection that afforded him as he sought to preach the good news about Jesus throughout the world.

If we’re a believer, God has sovereignly orchestrated the events in our life too, so that we can share the gospel with the people we interact with in the places where God takes us.
