Thank you to all those who attended the meeting this evening, Tuesday 16 June, to discuss ideas for fundraising to meet the costs of essential repairs to our church steeple. A special thank you to David D for Chairing the meeting.

All of the ideas put forward will be given further consideration over the coming weeks.

Today, Tuesday 16 June, is the Memorial of St Richard of Chichester, Bishop.

Mass this morning is at the usual time of 9.30am.

At 2.30pm, there will be a Funeral Service for Veronica Tipping, lately deceased.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will then follow.

St Richard of Chichester - Richard Wych 16th June - St Richard of Chichester (c. 1197–1253), originally Richard Wych, rose from a difficult early life—after his family lost their wealth—to become a scholar, priest, and eventually Bishop of Chichester. Educated at Oxford, Paris, and Bologna, he was influenced by St Edmund of Canterbury, whom he later served as Chancellor.

After being ordained later in life, Richard was appointed bishop despite royal opposition. Supported by the Pope, he eventually took possession of his diocese and worked tirelessly to reform it. He improved standards among clergy, ensured proper care of the poor, and enforced fair religious practices, while also organising funding for the cathedral.

Known for his personal austerity, compassion, and dedication, Richard preached reform and spiritual renewal until his death. He was quickly recognised as a saint and remains the patron saint of Sussex.

The Catenian Association - Presidents’ Sunday Celebration - 14 June 2026

Members of two local circles of the Catenian Association, Preston South and South Ribble, gathered today for Mass to celebrate Presidents’ Sunday, giving thanks for the friendship, faith and service that unite Catenians and their families.

The occasion provided an opportunity to pray for the work of the Association and for all those who serve in leadership roles during the coming year. We pray, in particular, for parishioners, Andrew and Mike, who will serve, respectively, as Presidents of the South Ribble and Preston South circles.

Founded in 1908, the Association is a lay society which aims to strengthen Catholic family life through friendship, faith, and mutual support.

The Association encourages members to deepen their faith, support one another in living out their Catholic vocation, and contribute positively to the life of the Church and wider community.

We congratulate our Circle Presidents and wish them every blessing as they begin their year of service.

“That they may all be one” (John 17:21).

The Catenian Association - Presidents’ Sunday Celebration - 14 June 2026

Congratulations to our parishioners, Andrew and Mike, members of the Catenian Association, who have recently taken on the role of President of their respective circles for the coming year.

Mike is a member of Circle 235, Preston South and Andrew is a member of Circle 347, South Ribble. To mark the start of their terms of office, they were joined by fellow Catenians, and their families, from Circles 235 and 347 for Mass here in their home parish.

The Catenian Association aims to strengthen Catholic family life through friendship, faith and mutual support.

Andrew and Mike are pictured following the 9.30am Mass this morning, Sunday 14 June, with their wives, Fran and Joanne, and Fr Colin who celebrated Mass.

Baptism Enrolment - 14 June

This morning, Sunday 14 June, during the 9.30am Mass, we welcomed Frankie and Jonah, together with their parents and God-parents.

They were both enrolled for the Sacrament of Baptism and will be Baptised in the near future.

Two of the children from our Children's Liturgy Group presented welcome cards to each of the two families after the enrolment had taken place.

Please remember them both, and their families, in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.
