Shalom Family,

On this day, as much of the world pauses to celebrate, we at the Ministry of Yeshua want to wish each of you a truly blessed and peaceful day this Christmas time.

We recognise that many in our community, and throughout history, understand that this may not be the exact chronological date of our Saviourโ€™s birth. However, we believe there is profound beauty in setting aside time to honour the miracle of the Incarnation. Regardless of the specific day on the calendar, the reality remains: Light entered the darkness, and the Word became flesh.

๐Ÿ‘‘ The Kings Who Werenโ€™t There ๐Ÿ‘‘

Weโ€™ve all seen the nativity scenes: a stable, animals, shepherds, and three regal kings bearing giftsโ€ฆ gathered around a newborn in a manger.

Itโ€™s beautiful. Itโ€™s familiar. But itโ€™s not quite biblical.

๐Ÿ” What the Text Actually Says:

In Matthew 2, we read about mysterious visitors from the east โ€” called โ€œmagiโ€ (Greek: ฮผฮฌฮณฮฟฮน - magoi), not kings.

โ€œNow after Jesus (Yeshua) was born in Bethlehemโ€ฆ wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, โ€˜Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?โ€™โ€ (Matthew 2:1โ€“2)

Notice the details:
No number is given. The text never says โ€œthree.โ€
They arrive after Jesus (Yeshua) was born, not the same night.
They visit Jesus (Yeshua) in a house (Matthew 2:11), not a manger.
They are wise men, not monarchs.

Soโ€ฆ where did the idea of โ€œkingsโ€ come from?

๐Ÿงญ Where the Story Came From:

The tradition of โ€œthree kingsโ€ developed later in Christian history, likely inspired by the three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:11). But that doesnโ€™t mean there were three visitors โ€” only that they brought three types of offerings.

As for the royal title, that may stem from passages like Psalm 72 or Isaiah 60, which describe kings bringing gifts to the Messiah. Early interpreters connected the dots and saw the magi as fulfilling those prophecies, hence, they were seen as kings.

Over time, tradition even gave them names: Melchior, Caspar, and Balthasar โ€” though none of these appear in Scripture.

๐Ÿ’ก Why This Matters:

It might seem like a harmless mix-up. But it reminds us how easily tradition can overwrite the text and how important it is to read Scripture carefully.

The Bible presents a richer, more grounded story: not about royal pageantry, but about unexpected worship. Foreign astrologers from the East โ€” perhaps pagans โ€” recognise the Jewish Messiah when many of His own people do not.

This is a story not of three kings... but of unexpected worshippers from a distant land, acknowledging Yeshuasโ€™ significance from afar.

Iโ€™ve often pondered the profound meaning behind the verse from Psalm 23:5 โ€” "You anoint my head with oil." At first glance, many interpret this as a metaphor for God's care and health. While this understanding is not wrong, there is a richer, biblical symbolism that reveals God's tender provision and protection over His flock.

In biblical times, shepherds anointed their sheepโ€™s heads with oilโ€”not merely as a health measure, but as a deliberate act of protection. Sheep are vulnerable creatures, prone to getting their heads ensnared in thorns or attacked by pests. Fleas and flies would torment them relentlessly, laying eggs in their nostrils, which could hatch into worms, causing the sheep excruciating pain and driving them to destructive behaviour, even head-banging against rocks in desperation.

The shepherdโ€™s oil served as a barrier against these tormentors. It was a symbol of divine provisionโ€”a protective balm that kept the sheep safe from harm and brought peace amidst dangers. This act of anointing symbolises God's tender care, His safeguarding presence, and His desire to shield His people from spiritual and physical harm. As David declares in Psalm 23:5, "You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Here, the overflowing cup signifies abundanceโ€”Godโ€™s blessing, grace, and favour poured out upon His beloved.

In a spiritual sense, the act of anointing our heads with oil can be seen as inviting God's sanctifying power into our lives. Just as oil creates a barrier for sheep, God's Spirit acts as a shield against the evil and torment that seek to afflict us. When we face mental torment, intrusive worries, or spiritual battles, we can pray for God's anointingโ€”His anointing that brings peace, clarity, and spiritual strength.

The Bible affirms this divine protection and anointing. In James 5:14, we read, "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord." This practice signifies divine authority and healing. Similarly, in 1 John 2:20, we are reminded, "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth." The Holy Spirit, the eternal Oil of Joy (Psalm 45:7), anoints us to live victorious lives, overflowing with His Spirit.

When we humbly ask God to anoint our minds and hearts, we invite His divine protection and peace into our lives. His infinite supply of grace is available to us daily. We can trust that His Spirit will keep us safe from spiritual pests, mental torment, and despair, enabling us to set our hearts and eyes firmly on Him.

May our Heavenly Father graciously anoint your head with oil today and always. May His Spirit overflow in your life, bringing health, peace, and blessings in abundance. Remember, in the presence of the Lord, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11), and His peace surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Let this be a reminder that God's protective and anointing hand is always near. As Psalm 23 continues, David concludes, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." In His presence, we find refuge, protection, and eternal hope.

May the Lord bless you abundantly, anoint your life with His Spirit, and fill your heart with His peaceโ€”today, tomorrow, and forevermore.

Amen โœž

Today, we rejoice in the glorious resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah โ€” a divine victory that fills our hearts with hope, joy, and renewed purpose. His rising from the dead is a profound reminder of God's unwavering love and the promise of new life for all who believe in Him.

As we reflect on this miraculous event, let us remember what it truly means for us today: that even in the darkest moments, hope can be reborn, and life can be transformed through faith. His resurrection assures us that no situation is beyond His power to restore, and that His love conquers all.

On this special day, I encourage you to share this hope with others through acts of kindness and compassion. Reach out to someone who may be hurting, offer a word of encouragement, or serve those in need. Sometimes, a simple act of love can be the greatest testimony of His resurrection.

Let us embrace the joy and celebration of this day by embodying the love of Yeshua โ€” showing grace, mercy, and kindness to everyone we meet. As it is written in the TLV Bible:

"For as in Adam all die, so also in Messiah all will be made alive." โ€” 1 Corinthians 15:22

May this day inspire us to live with hope in our hearts and to share the good news of His resurrection with those around us. Letโ€™s be beacons of His light, shining hope into the world.

Wishing you all a blessed and joyful day of celebration, filled with love, peace, and the everlasting hope found in Him!

In exploring the roots of faith, names carry profound significance, often reflecting deeper truths and historical contexts. One name that stands out is "Yeshua," the original Hebrew name of Jesus. While many today refer to Him as Jesus, I believe that calling Him Yeshua embodies a richness that resonates more deeply with His identity and mission.

The name Yeshua translates to "salvation" in Hebrew, encapsulating the essence of His purpose on Earth. In the time of His life, Yeshua was not just a name; it was a declaration of hope and deliverance for the Jewish people. The transition from Yeshua to Jesus occurred as the New Testament was translated into Greek and later into Latin, where the name was adapted to fit linguistic norms. This evolution, while necessary for communication, led to a loss of some cultural and spiritual connotations associated with the original name.

Interestingly, the name Yeshua is often said to be translated as "Joshua." However, this translation is not entirely accurate in the context of the New Testament. The name Yeshua, while etymologically linked to Joshua, was likely avoided in translation to prevent confusion with Joshua, the Old Testament figure known for leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. By opting for "Jesus," translators may have aimed to delineate the New Testament figure from his Old Testament namesake, thus emphasising His unique role and mission.

For many, using the name Yeshua can enhance the connection to His Jewish heritage and the historical context of His teachings. It serves as a reminder of the roots of Christianity in Judaism, linking the New Testament to the Old Testament and emphasising the continuity of God's plan. In a world where cultural identities are often overlooked, acknowledging Yeshua can foster a deeper appreciation of His teachings and the traditions that shaped Him.

While I find profound meaning in calling Him Yeshua, I want to clarify that this perspective does not diminish the significance of the name Jesus for others. For countless believers, Jesus represents their faith and relationship with Him, and that connection is just as valid. The essence of faith transcends the name used; it lies in the personal relationship and the values that each name carries for individuals.

In conclusion, the name Yeshua invites us to delve deeper into the historical and spiritual dimensions of faith. It connects us to the roots of Christianity and honours the rich tapestry of traditions that inform our understanding of Jesus. Ultimately, whether one chooses to use Yeshua or Jesus, the most important aspect is the love, faith, and commitment that each believer carries in their heart. By embracing the diversity of names and their meanings, we can foster a more inclusive and enriching dialogue about faith and spirituality.

In moments of deep despair, it's easy to feel as though everything is slipping away, just as it did for Job. He faced unimaginable lossesโ€”his wealth, health, and family. Yet, what Satan didnโ€™t understand was that Job's true treasure was in his unwavering relationship with God.

Despite his suffering, Job declared, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him." (๐‰๐จ๐› ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“). His faith remained unshaken because God was his everything. No amount of loss or torment could alter that bond.

Many of us can relate to Job's trials, whether through the pain of losing a job, the heartache of a broken relationship, or the grief of losing a loved one. In such times, it can feel as though the world is against us. But even in our darkest moments, we can cling to the promise found in ๐‘๐จ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ฌ ๐Ÿ–:๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him."

Furthermore, ๐ˆ๐ฌ๐š๐ข๐š๐ก ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ reassures us: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God."

Remember, no matter how hard Satan tries to shake your faith or strip away what you hold dear, if your heart is anchored in God, you will never truly lose. So stay strong, keep your trust alive, and watch as God brings restoration beyond what you could ever imagine. Your journey may be challenging, but your faith will carry you through to brighter days ahead.

Yeshua informed His early followers that upon receiving baptism in the Holy Spirit, they would be โ€œclothed with power from on highโ€ (Luke 24:49). This suggests a dynamic and transformative experience, one that could truly shake the world! Wherever the Spirit moves, He transforms individuals into passionate believers, equipping them with the boldness to preach, heal the sick, and even raise the dead.

Long before the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church during Pentecost, the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, freshly anointed as a priest, received a glimpse of how God would empower His people through the Holy Spirit.

This glimpse came in the form of a striking vision filled with a stormy wind, a cloud radiating with fire, flashes of lightning, and unusual, four-faced cherubim energised by Godโ€™s divine force.

What God revealed to Ezekiel foreshadowed the miracle of Pentecost, when He would empower His people from on high. The early disciples would hear the sound of a rushing wind and witness flames of fire descending upon each believer, infusing them with extraordinary qualities: supernatural strength, fierce courage, remarkable boldness, and an extraordinary capacity to perceive the mysteries of Godโ€™s invisible realm.

I do not imply that He brings chaos or disorder; indeed, God is not the author of confusion. Yet, too frequently, the British church has sought to limit the Holy Spirit, suppress Him, or even restrain Him to maintain control.

I worry that, in certain instances, we have invited this wild Spirit of God to remain distant so that we can conduct our subdued version of church without His unexpected interjections. If weโ€™re honest, we must acknowledge that the church has become so weak, timid, and entangled with the world that we hardly resemble the powerful Christians of the first century, who boldly preached the gospel, performed miracles, and willingly laid down their lives in martyrdom for Christ.

Nevertheless, the promise endures: any Christian courageous enough to invite the Spirit to empower them can experience the same manifestations of power that were evident in the early church.

In today's world, where societal norms and values are constantly shifting, it's crucial to remember that the nature of sin remains unchanged, whether it occurred 100, 1000, or even 3000 years ago. As followers of Yeshua, we are called to uphold the truth of Scripture without compromise, even in the face of a generation that often takes offense at its teachings.

Throughout history, sin has consistently manifested in humanityโ€™s desire to prioritise fleshly desires and human traditions over the commandments of God. This timeless struggle is highlighted in Scripture, reminding us of the importance of steadfastness in our faith.

The Bible clearly warns us about the tendency of people to turn away from God. In 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NIV), it is written: "For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."

This passage is a prophetic reminder that many will seek teachings that align with their own desires, rather than the enduring truths of Scripture. It is crucial, therefore, that we do not dilute the Word to make it more palatable to contemporary sensibilities.

Jesus Himself emphasised the permanence of His words in Matthew 24:35 (NIV): "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." This reinforces the idea that the truth of Scripture is eternal and should not be altered to fit modern trends.

Furthermore, Romans 12:2 (NIV) advises us: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." This transformation comes from adhering to biblical truths, rather than conforming to the shifting standards of society.

As believers, we are called to stand firm in our faith, resisting the temptation to compromise Scripture. Ephesians 6:11 (NIV) urges us to "Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devilโ€™s schemes."

While we are called to uphold the truth, we must also remember the central commandment of love that Yeshua taught us. In John 13:34-35 (NIV), Jesus said, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Loving others does not mean condoning sin, but rather showing compassion and understanding. We are reminded in Matthew 7:1 (NIV), "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." Our role is not to judge, but to guide and support each other in living according to God's principles.

By loving others, even when they fall short, we exemplify the grace and mercy that Yeshua showed us. This love serves as a powerful testimony to the world, demonstrating the transformative power of living in accordance with Godโ€™s will.

In conclusion, while the world may change and seek to redefine morality, the nature of sin and the truth of Scripture remain constant. Let us commit to holding fast to these truths, boldly proclaiming them in love, and resisting the urge to water them down for a world in need of genuine transformation.

This commitment not only honours our faith but also serves as a beacon of hope and truth for those seeking the unchanging wisdom of Godโ€™s Word. Through love and truth, we can inspire others to embrace the path of righteousness and become part of Godโ€™s everlasting kingdom.
