Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.' Isaiah 53 v 10 (NKJV)

I love this time of year in my garden because I'm fortunate to have inherited lots of old rose bushes - the ones which actually have a fragrance! I have one old yellow rose which I eagerly await to bloom because it has the sweetest scent which reminds me of Turkish Delight. Little did I know (before googling it) that rose petals are actually used, in the form of rosewater, in the authentic recipe for proper Turkish Delight! Rosewater is first created by distilling fresh rose petals which are then crushed releasing both the fragrance and the taste which in turn, when mixed with the other ingredients, makes one of the most delicious and scented types of sweets.

As I thought about something so beautiful and precious as a perfect rose being crushed to create such a delicate taste a thought struck me about the perfect, sin-free, Lamb of God who willingly left the glories of Heaven to come down to a sin filled world - knowing that He would pour out His life for each of us. The perfect God-man willingly bore our sins out of pure love for each of us and as our sins were laid upon Him He was crushed under the weight of them - both physically and spiritually. He endured the most intense suffering and brutality, resulting in His precious life-blood flowing to release you and me from sin and to make us children of the living God. Praise God that Jesus' substitutionary death and glorious resurrection has
completely crushed the enemy's schemes and opened up the way of salvation to all who will believe and in doing so Jesus brought much glory to His Father.

'The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit'. John 3 v 8 (NKJV)

Wind turbines have become such a common sight throughout our countryside - one which people either love or hate. I for one am fascinated by them, especially on calmer days when their huge, outstretched arms rotate in wind which we can't see or perhaps even feel at ground level! But there is a constant, invisible power source which each turbine locks in to - causing their blades to rotate which in turn generates more power.

Driving past some wind turbines this week I thought about the workings of the Holy Spirit. We can't physically see Him, or fully understand His workings, but we know that He is as real today as He was on the day of Pentecost and we can see the effects He has on lives fully submitted to Him. He dwells within each blood-bought believer and we know that the Holy Spirit is constantly at work, transforming each believers' life - we don't need to see something with our own eyes to trust that God is continually at work in the lives of His children. He is our Guide, our Comforter, our Helper - the believer's power source as we live on this earth! Wind turbines embrace the power of the wind - causing them to
generate even more usable power - likewise we too as Christians, when we submit to the workings of the Holy Spirit in and through our everyday lives, can be transformed and used in service for the Lord bringing much glory to Him - He is so worthy.

You're very welcome to come along for a cuppa and a chat tomorrow morning.
