We are delighted to announce that £3,000 has been donated to the Friends of St Mary's from the Balstock committee! The donation will go towards the restoration of our beloved church hall, following the vandalism last year. As you can see, work is already underway! Thank you to to the committee for choosing our church hall restoration project as one of the beneficiaries and to everyone who supported Balstock this year and made this donation possible.

News from St Mary’s Church – the final push!

Our campaign to raise the funds required to repair the damage to the church hall following the mindless act of vandalism last July remains in full flow. We aim to begin the first phase of the work in September 2025.

How can you help?

With your help, we can raise the final £30,000 needed to start work on restoring our church hall. We have a generous offer to match fund any donations which will help us to reach our target – which means we only need to find another £15,000. If we achieve this by the end of July, we’ll be able to start the work in the autumn!

By match funding your donation, and with gift aid, we can make over double what you have given: this means that if you give £10, we can turn this into £22.50. If you give £500, this will become £1,125!

Easter Monday Pilgrimage from Baldock to St Alban's Cathedral
Thank you to everyone who sponsored and / or supported us on our pilgrimage from St Mary’s Baldock to the Abbey on Monday. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over £1,400! Despite setting off in the rain at 5am, we completed the 24 miles with about 10 minutes to spare…

If you haven’t yet donated and would like to, there is still time. Any donations will help towards the work of the repairs and well as additional work to make the hall a welcoming, safe, accessible and sustainable space for everyone who uses it.

Good luck to the team who are walking the 24-miles from St Mary the Virgin, Baldock to St Alban’s Cathedral on Easter Monday to raise funds for the church hall following the vandalism last year. You can sponsor them using the link in the article.

Four brave travellers from Baldock are embracing a 24-mile walk from their church, St Mary's, to St Albans Cathedral next Monday, 21 April as part of the Easter Monday Pilgrimage. Following severe damage caused by vandalism last summer to their church hall and grounds, the group are raising money to help with essential restorations. Easter Monday Pilgrimage from Baldock to St Alban’s Cathedral

On Easter Monday, four members of the congregation at St Mary's Church are walking from Baldock to St Alban’s Cathedral in time for the Easter Monday service at 3pm. The distance is approx 24 miles (just shy of a marathon) and will mean leaving Baldock at about 5am to complete the journey in time.

We are raising funds for the restoration of our church hall which was vandalised last summer. The hall is not only open to groups and individuals for bookings, it is also a place of great support to our local community as it opens its doors every week to both the Foodbank and Food Angels.

Your donations will help towards the work of the repairs and well as additional work on making the hall a welcoming and accessible and sustainable space for everyone who uses it.

Thank you!
