Despite the heat and the rock hard ground we managed to complete the next stage of new ashes plot today.

Eight oak posts have been installed marking the boundary of the area and creating an entrance way. Once the concrete has completely set the temporary rope will be replaced with chain sections between the posts to complete the surround.

A big thank you to John and Tom for their help this morning, especially Tom who did most of the digging.

We also have our first brass name plaque on the Board of Remembrance. Fittingly it is for Michael Morris, a much loved and missed member of the church family who for many years supported and contributed greatly to St. Peter’s and the work and mission of the church.

In view of the very hot weather forecast for this week, we have decided to leave the church building open this week, so that people can come in and cool off from the blazing heat that has been predicted.

The thick stone walls of this wonderful medieval building, mean that the temperature inside church is considerably lower than it is outside.

So if you’re out and about and feel the need to cool down a bit, come in and enjoy a bit of quiet contemplation while you cool off.

Please keep the inside doors of the church closed, so that the hot air remains outside.

Only seven days to go before our open area service on the Village green next Sunday at 11:00.
There will be plenty of shaded areas, several gazebos, refreshments and things for the children to do, so everyone should be able to stay cool and comfortable.
Looking forward to welcoming the children from the Junior School again this year.
Remember, everyone welcome.

KCOA in action this afternoon at St.Peter’s

18/04/2026

This afternoon St. Peter’s hosted a visit from the Kent County Organist Association, whose members came along to see and play our church organ.

There were a number of excellent performances by members of the association and when they had finished playing they all went over to the church centre for an excellent tea.

A big thank you to the Ruth, Carolyn and the catering team for their hard work preparing and serving such a magnificent spread.
