Consultation on submitted sites in the new Local Plan now open

The consultation on submitted sites as part of the new Local Plan is now open and will run until 17 August 2026.

Central Bedfordshire Council is inviting residents, businesses and organisations to comment on sites that have been put forward for possible inclusion in the new Local Plan.

The new Local Plan will help shape how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050. It will set out how the area can meet future needs for homes, jobs and infrastructure, while creating and maintaining great places to live, protecting the countryside, green spaces, historic places and the character of local communities.

How to take part
To take part in the consultation, residents, local businesses and organisations should visit www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/local-plan-sites
There they will be able to view the submitted sites, read the supporting information, including the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Report, and complete the consultation online.

Try and put your bins out tonight so you don’t miss the early collections tomorrow ☀️

With hot weather forecast for this week, our waste and recycling crews will be starting a little earlier to help them work in the cooler part of the day.
Collections will begin from around 6.20am to 6.30am instead of the usual 7am start, so please make sure your bins are out the night before or by 6am on your collection day.
As previous years, crews will return for any bins missed because they weren’t presented in time. Please spread the word to friends and neighbours who may not see this message. ♻️

Please be aware the roadworks on West Hill and Aspley Hill are taking place. Diversions have been put in place so please be mindful you give yourselves extra time when travelling.
