Cllr Caroline Ball, Civic Head of Ashington Town Council, visited Wansbeck Valley Foodbank on Wednesday 19 August to see first-hand the vital support provided to local people facing financial hardship. ❤️

Wansbeck Valley Food Bank provides emergency food parcels and essential items to people across Ashington and the wider area, with almost half of its clients coming from Ashington.

The visit highlighted both the incredible work of the charity’s staff and volunteers and the growing importance of community support as food costs continue to rise.

Ashington Town Council is proud to support Wansbeck Valley Food Bank and the vital role it plays in supporting residents when they need it most.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this essential service possible.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Dedication of the Cathedral.

Opened in 1844, the church was consecrated and dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption on 21st August 1860, 166 years ago today.

The Consecration Sconces, of which there are 12 around the walls of the Cathedral, are lit only on this day in honour of the anniversary of the Consecration of the church.

We give thanks for our Diocese, Bishop Stephen and the people of our Diocesan Family who are the living stones of our Church.

Mass will be celebrated at 12.05pm.

Our Lady, assumed into Heaven - Pray for us!
