The Solemnity of the Assumption
Will be celebrated on Sunday (16th) rather than on the 15th as is usual. But beware - anyone planning on coming to Mass on Saturday morning, even though it will be a votive Mass of Our Lady, won't be fulfilling the Obligation that pertains to the Assumption feast. As we are celebrating on the Sunday this year, the Obligation is theoretically also transferred but as every Sunday is a day of Obligation, we shall all be in Church anyway!!
Masses will be celebrated at the usual Sunday times but the morning Solemn Mass will end with an outdoor Procession of Our Lady.
Why, you may ask is there a picture of desserts on this post rather than an image of Our Blessed Lady assumed body and soul into the glory of Heaven?
Well, that's because at the conclusion of the procession we shall move to the Hall where coffee and tea will be served. We shall then have a 'pudding party' - the idea being that we invite the congregation to bring along a dessert of their choice to be shared.
The list that was posted on the noticeboard has elicited a few offers of donations, but we could do with some more and it is not too late to make your offer of help. If you are coming on Sunday morning and are able to bring a pudding or dessert then we would be grateful if you would leave a comment on this post. Many thanks and we look forward to celebrating this joyful feast of Our Lady together on Sunday.

Next to his throne her Son, his Mother placed.
And here below, now she's of heaven possest
All generations are to call her blest."
