I am sorry to share the news that St Andrew’s church was broken into last night and a number of items of value, including our silver processional cross and audio visual equipment were stolen. A stained-glass window was also broken. The church is one of a number of local organisations and businesses to have been targeted in the last few days. Our prayers are with everyone who has been affected by these burglaries and we want to offer our support to the whole community. We are working with Devon and Cornwall police and reviewing our security arrangements. Our services and events at St Andrew’s will continue this week as usual. I invite you to gather with me for a short time of prayer and candle lighting in the church tomorrow morning at 8am.
I am extremely grateful for the many people in Ashburton who have sent messages of support and offered help with clearing up and repairing the damage. We are fortunate to have such kind and responsive parishioners. May St Andrew's continue to be a beacon of hope and light in this community.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
May we all know God's blessing and be a blessing to others
