And after a long morning of showing Daybrook some love, we met back at church where the refreshments team had prepared a good cuppa and we shared lunch together.

During that time we hear what people have got up to in the morning, the people they have met, the stories they have to share, the laughs and the people they have met along the way and the impact they have had.

It’s a really special way to wrap up the morning 🩵

We pray that 🩵LOVE Daybrook will show how important relationships are to us and making connections with our community is how we show Jesus’ love.

One of the lovely projects we get to be involved with is singing with residents in local care homes. We sang Cliff Richard, Buddy Holly, John Denver and The Drifters as well as Amazing Grace and Somewhere over the Rainbow 🌈 which are always firm favourites. We even had time for the children with us to do some of their action songs 🥰 🐊

We don’t arrive to preach but simply to spend time, have fun, bring a smile and share a story or two. We met people who married at St Paul’s, lived on church drive and in the Alms houses and some who simply enjoyed having some company.

Music reaches people in a way that words sometimes can't. Familiar songs and hymns bring back memories, lift spirits, and can help people feel connected, even when other things are hard to hold on to. It is a privilege to show Jesus’ love in that way.

Our parish covers many of the streets and roads in Daybrook and through 🩵LOVE Daybrook we try to reach across the parish. We spotted a part of Oxclose Lane that we could make a bit more welcoming by giving it a tidy up so a group of people, joined by Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne took their trowels and tools up the road to make a difference. We loved seeing the before and afters and they welcomed some local people bring them some cake too 🥰

👨🏼‍🌾 🪴 🪏 🌳 And closer to home we also took the opportunity yesterday at 🩵LOVE Daybrook, to give a little love to our church grounds.

Our building is a big landmark on the Daybrook horizon, somewhere people notice and spot from afar. We take time to steward our buildings well.

This willing group of keen gardeners with their wheelbarrows, spades and gloves made a big difference to the garden area at the entrance to the church building. Have a look next time you’re walking by.

We were blessed to be joined by familiar faces, people who have gardened the grounds a long time and also new faces too, all getting to ‘play’ in God’s creation.

We hope you enjoy the photographs…spot the little visitor reminding us that God’s creation is bright and proud, seasonal and changing, humble yet detailed and takes delight in the small things ❤️

What a wonderful morning of sharing Jesus’ love in Daybrook.
Yesterday our 3rd 🩵LOVE Daybrook community action day too place and over 35 of us went out into our parish to give back a little love.
With T-shirts, tools and tambourines 🤭 we left St Paul's Daybrook for 2 hours of projects. Over the coming day we’ll share more with you about that.

We’ll be gathering in worship all together at 10.30am this morning for our monthly

🌾In Thanksgiving for all that God provides us, we’ll be celebrating harvest & offering gifts to our local Foodbank
✋🏻 We’ll also be giving thanks for everything that our church community gives to church through serving God, hearing from some of those people & finding out a little more about what goes on ‘behind the scenes’

Come to church, worship with us and stay for a cuppa after.

We are hiring for a church administrator who could spend a few hours a week helping keep the everyday life of SPD and St Tim’s running smoothly.

It’s a wonderfully varied role supporting our church team, keeping things organised and on track, helping us communicate with our parish, our church community and responding to enquiries.

You don’t need to have worked for a church before as we will help you understand what needs to be done but we would also welcome someone who brings their own ideas about how to shape the role.
