🐑💭 A LITTLE FRIDAY THOUGHT…

Did you know the Bible doesn’t actually tell us that angels look like the ones we often see on Christmas cards? 👀

No tiny babies with wings.
No fluffy white clouds.
And definitely no halos floating around everywhere! 😂

In the Bible, angels are described in all sorts of fascinating ways — and quite often, the first thing they say when they appear is:

“Don’t be afraid.” ❤️

Which is probably a good thing… because some of those descriptions are pretty wild! 😅

One of our favourite things about exploring faith with children is discovering that the Bible is far more surprising, weird, wonderful and exciting than we sometimes realise.

So here’s your Friday question:

👼 If you could ask an angel one question, what would it be?

We’d love to hear your answers! 👇

🐑✨ LaMs is back next Sunday! (6th sept 3-4)✨🐑

The planning is well underway and we’re getting very excited! 👀💛

We’ve got another BIG Bible adventure coming your way, and this one might involve a rather unusual size difference… 🤔🪨

We’re keeping the details under wraps for now, but we can promise plenty of fun, creativity, stories and a few surprises along the way!

We’re already looking forward to seeing all our LaMs families again.

🐑 See you next Sunday! 💛✨

🐑 Thursday Theology: What does God look like?

If you asked a child, “What does God look like?”, you might get some brilliant answers.

A man with a big beard?
A giant?
A bright light?
Someone invisible?

The funny thing is… the Bible doesn’t give us a picture of God.

Instead, it tells us about what God is like.

God is loving. ❤️
God is kind.
God is just.
God is faithful.
God is merciful.

And Christians believe we see what God is like most clearly in Jesus.

So ask your little ones today:

“If you couldn’t draw God, but you could show someone what God is like, what would you draw?”

You might get a heart.

A helping hand.

Someone giving a hug.

Or possibly… a massive dinosaur because apparently dinosaurs are involved in everything. 😂🦖

Big questions. Little theologians. 🐑

🌿 Wellness Wednesday – Get Creative! 🎨

This week, we’re swapping “wellness” for something much more fun… CREATING! 😍

Grab the colouring pencils, crayons, chalk or whatever you’ve got to hand and get the whole family making something together.

🎨 Colouring: Create a picture of God’s wonderful world — animals, flowers, sunshine, favourite places or anything that makes you smile.

🌈 Pavement chalk: Take the creativity outside and make a giant rainbow, draw your favourite things, create a hopscotch, write positive messages or let the children cover the pavement in whatever their imaginations come up with!

💚 Gratitude garden: Draw some flowers and write or draw one thing you’re thankful for on each petal.

☀️ Family challenge: Everyone creates something and then tells the others what they’ve made and why.

There’s no winning, no perfect pictures and absolutely no artistic talent required! 😂

Just a bit of creativity, a bit of laughter and some lovely family time — with a little reminder that God has given us such a wonderfully colourful world to enjoy. 🌍✨

So… who’s getting the chalk out first? 👀😂

🌿 Tiny Faith Adventure Tuesday 🌿

Yesterday we were looking back at the history of our church, and it was lovely hearing so many of your memories and stories. ❤️

So today, let’s have a little adventure of our own…

Next time you’re near our church, take a few minutes to really look at it. 👀

Can you spot something you’ve never noticed before? A tiny detail in the stone, a beautiful window, an old doorway, a carving, a name or date?

Take a moment to wonder who might have stood there before you, and say a little thank you to God for all the people, stories and memories that have passed through these doors. 🙏

Because sometimes the tiniest adventures are hiding right on our doorstep. 💚

What will you discover? 🔎✨

📜❤️ MEMORY MAKER MONDAY ❤️📜

Did you know that our church is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086?

Yes… 1086! 😮

St Leonard & St Mary’s has stood at the heart of Armthorpe for more than 1,000 years. ⛪️

Just stop and think about that for a moment…

These walls have witnessed generations of village life.
They’ve seen baptisms, weddings and funerals.
They’ve heard prayers, hymns, laughter and tears.
They’ve watched children grow up, families change and our village change around them.

And whilst the building itself carries pieces of history from different centuries, it’s the people and their memories that really bring its story to life. ❤️

So for this Memory Maker Monday, we want to hear from YOU.

📸 Do you have an old photograph of the church?

💭 Do you remember a wedding, christening, funeral or special service here?

👵👴 Did your parents or grandparents have a connection with the church?

🕯️ Do you remember a particular person, Christmas service, Sunday School, choir, bell ringing, village event or simply a moment that has stayed with you?

Maybe you’ve lived in Armthorpe all your life… or perhaps you’re new to the village.

Whatever your connection, we’d love to hear your story.

Because when a church has been part of a community for over a thousand years, there are an awful lot of memories tucked away in those walls. ❤️

Let’s share them, remember them and make sure the stories of our church and our village continue to be passed on.

👇 Tell us your St Leonard & St Mary’s memory in the comments! 👇

🧡 MEMORY MAKER MONDAY 🧡

Monday is a lovely excuse to pause for a moment and remember the little things that have made us smile. 😊

So today, we’re asking our church family:

What’s a memory from church that still makes you smile? ⛪️❤️

Maybe it’s a favourite hymn, a Sunday school memory, a wedding, a baptism, a Christmas service, a funny moment, a special person, or simply a moment when you felt truly at home.

Sometimes the memories we treasure most aren’t the big occasions… they’re the ordinary moments that quietly became precious. ✨

Tell us yours in the comments — let’s make some new memories by sharing the old ones. 🥰 For me it’s that all of my children were baptised in our beautiful church!

🌿✨ A LITTLE SATURDAY NIGHT PAUSE… ✨🌿

The evenings are starting to feel a little softer now. 🌅
That gentle late-summer light, cooler air through the window, and that lovely feeling of the week finally slowing down.

So tonight, wherever you are, take a little moment.

Put your feet up.
Have a cuppa.
Listen to the garden, the rain, the children laughing, or simply enjoy the quiet. ☕️🤍

And remember…

You don’t have to have everything figured out tonight.
You don’t have to carry tomorrow before it arrives.
You are allowed to simply be.

Because God’s grace meets us exactly where we are — in the busy days, the messy moments and, yes, even in the quiet Saturday nights. 🙏✨

“My grace is sufficient for you.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

So breathe.
Rest.
Let go of the week behind you.

Tomorrow is another day, and tonight…
you are held. 🤍

Have a peaceful Saturday evening, church family. 🌿🌙
