We are pleased to say the Parish Hall clock is now fully automated and keeping time perfectly. No need for it to be manually wound weekly!
It will continue to strike hourly chimes and also readjust automatically when the clocks go forward and backward.
Thank you to our past volunteers, John and Peter, who wound the clock before our Site Agent took over.
I am sure you will agree the sound of the hourly chime is a welcome return and a historic symbol for the parish.

PLEASE NOTE YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT ON THE SUBMITTED SITES WITHIN HENLOW PARISH FOR CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL’S (CBC’s) LOCAL PLAN ENDS ON 17TH AUGUST 2026

Central Bedfordshire Council’s (CBC’s) consultation on submitted sites as part of the new Local Plan was launched on 6 July 2026 and runs until Monday 17 August 2026. The consultation provides residents with the opportunity to review the information relating to the submitted sites and respond to CBC with their comments on individual sites.

CBC states that its intention is for the new Local Plan will help shape how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050 by identifying how the area can meet future needs for homes, jobs and infrastructure, while creating and maintaining great places to live and protecting the countryside, green spaces, historic places and the character of local communities.
Last year, landowners, developers and others were invited to put forward sites they thought had potential for future development. Putting a site forward does not mean it will be included in the Local Plan or that any decision has been made about it. All sites will need to be carefully assessed using detailed evidence, national policy and environmental information before any decisions are made about which sites may be suitable to take forward.

CBC wants to hear residents’ views on the sites that have been submitted, including any local concerns about particular sites and the reasons for them and has suggested people focus on the sites in their own ward or local area, where their local knowledge will be most valuable. Residents do not need to comment on every submitted site across Central Bedfordshire and can choose which sites they wish to comment on.

To take part in the consultation, residents, local businesses and organisations should visit Call for Sites Here they will be able to view all submitted sites, read the supporting information and complete the consultation online.

For ease of reference, link to the map on the CBC website showing the submitted sites across the whole of CBC is:

Please note the link to the relevant page to the CBC website detailing the 14 submitted sites within Henlow Parish is:

Henlow Parish Council is in the process of compiling its responses in relation to each of the 14 submitted sites and invites parishioners to submit their own comments to CBC directly using the link above. As stated above, the last date for doing so is Monday 17th August 2026. Please note that it is necessary to ‘Create an Account’ as per the prompt to do so on the CBC website to submit your comments. Please also note that CBC are only accepting online responses.

It is important for residents to consider submitting their own comments to CBC on the submitted sites within Henlow Parish to ensure that all relevant considerations and local knowledge are taken into account in determining the suitability of sites for inclusion in the Local Plan.

It should be noted that the process of considering the suitability of sites for inclusion in the Local Plan does not automatically lead to the grant of planning permission and any sites would need to be subject to a planning application. However, residents have an important opportunity to provide their views on where new development could take place in the future.

If any residents require assistance in submitting their comments, they can contact Henlow Parish Council on 01462 811800 or email: [email protected]

Find out about the submitted sites consultation, view proposed development sites and have your say on the new Local Plan.

UPDATE:
Anglian Water should be commencing works by the end of Friday 7th August 2026.

A couple of residents have raised concerns about a water leak on the High Street, near house no 6a.
We have contacted Anglian Water and this has already been reported. They are escalating the job to apply for a permit to be able to dig the road to repair the fault and have traffic management (one way lights) throughout the course of the repair.
Watch this space for any update on dates for the work to be carried out.

We are pleased to provide an update on works to the Parish Hall clock.
The clock is being automated on Tuesday 11th August. This means it will not require weekly manual winding and the time will be always be accurate.
The regular chimes of the clock will be heard once more very soon!
