Heddiw yw Pentecost.
Mae'r Pentecost, a ddathlwyd 50 diwrnod ar ôl y Pasg, yn ŵyl Gristnogol ganolog sy'n nodi'r foment pan ddisgynnodd yr Ysbryd Glân ar yr Apostolion yn Jerwsalem.

Yn aml fe'i gelwir yn 'ben-blwydd yr eglwys' oherwydd ei fod yn arwydd o ddechrau ei chenhadaeth.

Fel y dywedir yn Actau 2:1–31,
roedd dilynwyr Iesu wedi ymgynnull ar gyfer Gŵyl yr Wythnosau Iddewig pan lenwodd sŵn fel rhuthr o wynt y tŷ, a gorffwysodd "tafodau tân" arnynt, gan ganiatáu iddynt siarad mewn gwahanol ieithoedd.

Ar draws llinellau enwadol mae'r Pentecost yn gyfle i Gristnogion anrhydeddu rôl yr Ysbryd Glân yn eu bywydau, a dathlu genedigaeth yr Eglwys Gristnogol mewn cyd-destun eciwmenaidd.

Arglwydd, ar ddydd y Pentecost, fe drawsffurfiaist ddisgyblion ofnus yn ddynion a menywod o rym.

Gweddïwn y bydd dy Ysbryd Glân yn disgyn o'r newydd arnom heddiw.

Chwythwch yr ofn, yr amheuaeth, a'r difaterwch yn ein bywydau i ffwrdd.

Tanio ein calonnau â'th gariad a dyro inni'r dewrder i rannu dy Efengyl, gan ddod â goleuni a gobaith i fyd toredig.
Helpa ni i fod yn asiantau heddwch a chyfiawnder yn ein cymunedau.

Happy Birthday to Us!!! 🎂🎉🎁

Today is Pentecost.
Pentecost, celebrated 50 days after Easter, is a central Christian feast marking the moment when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles in Jerusalem.

It is often called the ‘birthday of the church’ because it signals the beginning of its mission.

As told in Acts 2:1–31,
followers of Jesus were gathered for the Jewish Feast of Weeks when a sound like a rush of wind filled the house, and "tongues of fire" rested on them, allowing them to speak in different languages.

Across denominational lines Pentecost is an opportunity for Christians to honour the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and celebrate the birth of the Christian Church in an ecumenical context.

Lord, on the day of Pentecost, you transformed fearful disciples into men and women of power.

We pray that your Holy Spirit falls afresh on us today.

Blow away the fear, doubt, and apathy in our lives.

Ignite our hearts with your love and grant us the boldness to share your Gospel, bringing light and hope to a broken world.
Help us to be agents of peace and justice in our communities.

Amen.
