Calon Church

Calon Church A place for everyone, regardless of physical ability, gender, race, sexuality, age or income. We’re committed to growing big and deep at Calon.

Calon is a church where our doors are wide open to everyone, whatever your background, and wherever you're from. It’s a place where people really matter – that’s because you matter to God. What visitors usually notice first at Calon is how many people of differing ages are there who enjoy one another’s company. Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible - a church

with relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. So whether you’re someone who’s just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, we believe you can find some friends and a home here at Calon. Firstly we want to grow big in that God has given us a great vision for a great church here in Ammanford. As part of that vision we want to engage as many people as possible at our Sunday services in order to communicate the life changing message of Jesus Christ. Secondly, we want to grow deep though our small groups (Plus groups). We all need deep, loving and meaningful friendships to navigate life. Plus is the way we develop deeper relationships with each other and God.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today we celebrate the women in our church, our community, and across the world — women created in the image of God, gifted with strength, compassion, wisdom, and courage.

We give thanks for the women who lead with grace, who serve quietly behind the scenes, who pray faithfully, who nurture families, who lift others up, and who carry God’s love into every corner of their lives. We honour the women who have gone before us, whose faith shaped the foundations we stand on today, and we celebrate the girls growing up among us, discovering who God has called them to be.

On this day, we remember the words of Proverbs 31:25:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
May every woman know that this strength and dignity is hers — not earned, but given by a God who sees her, values her, and walks beside her.

To all the women in our church family:
Thank you for your resilience.
Thank you for your kindness.
Thank you for your faith.
Thank you for the countless ways you reflect God’s heart.

May you continue to rise, shine, and step boldly into the purpose God has placed within you.

Happy St David’s Day!

Today we celebrate the life of Saint David, Dewi Sant, the patron saint of Wales, whose legacy of faith, kindness, and courage continues to inspire. Whether you’re wearing a daffodil, enjoying a bowl of cawl, sharing some Welsh-cakes or simply soaking up the joy of Welsh culture, may your day be filled with peace and purpose.

Let’s follow his gentle wisdom: “Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things.”

Wishing everyone a fab day🧡

There’s nothing more life‑changing than meeting Jesus. When you encounter Him, hope rises, burdens lift, and something deep within finally comes alive. He brings peace where there’s been pressure, clarity where there’s been confusion, and purpose where there’s been uncertainty.

If you’ve been searching, curious, or simply longing for something real, we’d love to welcome you this Sunday at 11am. You don’t need to have everything figured out — just come as you are. Jesus has a way of meeting us right where we are and beginning something new.

This could be the moment everything starts to change.

Sunday’s message from Mel has stayed with so many of us. She reminded us that we are not here by accident, we have been intentionally created, shaped with purpose, and designed with care. In a world that often makes us feel small or overlooked, it’s powerful to remember the truth of Scripture:

“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”

Those words aren’t just poetry, they’re identity. They tell us that long before we took our first breath, God already knew our story, our personality, our gifts, and the path ahead of us. Mel helped us see that creation isn’t just out there in the universe; it’s in us too.

If that encouraged you, come join us again this Sunday. There’s something life‑giving about exploring who we are and who God is, together.

There’s something so moving about singing ‘All Heaven Declares’ after a message like Mel’s on Sunday. As we looked at the wonder of creation, galaxies forming, stars singing, life crafted with intention, it felt only right to lift our voices with the same truth creation has been proclaiming since the beginning.

“All heaven declares the glory of the risen Lord…”

Every sunrise, every star‑filled sky, every detail of the world around us echoes what Scripture has always said: creation points to its Creator. Mel reminded us that the universe isn’t silent , it’s a constant declaration of God’s power, beauty, and design.

Looking forward to gathering again this Sunday.

Last Sunday left so many of us in awe. Mel painted such an incredible picture of our universe — a universe where galaxies spin, stars are born, and light travels unimaginable distances… all in the time it takes us to blink. When you pause long enough to notice it, creation is bursting with detail, order, and beauty that points beyond itself.

It’s no wonder the psalmist wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Every moment, the universe is quietly shouting that there is a Designer behind it all, intentional, powerful, and deeply creative.

If Sunday stirred your sense of wonder, come join us again next week. There’s so much more to explore together.

What a brilliant morning together yesterday. Mel spoke with such clarity and passion about creation and the evidence for an intelligent Designer. It was thoughtful, accessible, and full of those “aha” moments that remind us why these conversations matter.

Even more encouraging, as a result of today’s message, three people started a new relationship with God. We’re celebrating with them and cheering them on as they begin this new journey of faith.

If yesterday encouraged you, challenged you, or simply sparked your curiosity, we’d love to see you again next week. There’s something powerful about exploring big questions in community, and you’re always welcome to be part of it.

Come expectant — good things are ahead.

This hymn always reminds me that God’s character doesn’t shift with our circumstances. His mercy meets us fresh each morning. His strength carries us when ours runs out. His faithfulness holds steady through every season we walk through.

No matter what this week looks like, we can rest in this truth:
The God who has been faithful before will be faithful again.
