LEBANON
As wars rage around the world, God is still almighty. Pray for people facing the fallout of violent conflict in Lebanon this week, using this prayer from Tearfund’s team in Lebanon.

Heavenly Father, we lift Lebanon to you. A land of immense beauty and deep history, yet profound suffering. We pray for the families who are weary, crushed under the heavy weight of uncertainty, conflict and economic hardship. We pray for your continuous blessing over business owners who are working relentlessly to provide for their families. May their businesses thrive. Please continue your healing work among those struggling with depression and trauma. May your church remain a beacon of light in these dark hours. Protect and encourage Tearfund’s partners, staff, churches and volunteers; let their love be a blessing to many, and grant them strength as they serve others while navigating these difficult times themselves. Lord, you ask us to carry each other’s burdens, and we thank you that these families were not left to carry theirs alone. We believe that what seems impossible for us is never impossible in your hands. Speak your peace, which transcends all understanding, over all nations across the region. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

ETHIOPIA
Different regions of Ethiopia are currently affected by instability.
• Pray for peace, healing and an end to tensions and fragility.
• Pray for those affected by the consequences of climate change, such as drought, including those whose livelihoods have been affected.
• Pray for the provision of new economic opportunities, especially for young people in the country.

DR CONGO, SOUTH SUDAN, UGANDA: EBOLA
Continue to pray for people facing the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in surrounding nations.
• Thank God for an answer to prayer, with reports of the first survivors of this strain of the virus.
• Please continue to pray for healing for the many more who are affected, and for an end to the spread.
• Pray for protection from Ebola across all three countries, and for the virus to be contained.
• Pray for medical staff and aid agencies to whom there is also a great danger, pray for their protection.
• For faith leaders, pray that they will have strength and boldness and resilience as they manage funerals and families faced with devastation.
• Pray that the comforters will be themselves comforted.

At Messy Church we were learning about Esther. Despite being small in numbers (we hope all the regulars had a great time at your dance show, but we missed you) we had a great and messy time together.
That was the last Messy Church before the holidays, we will be back the first Sunday in September, but the exciting news is that booking is open for holiday club 3rd-7th August 10-12 each day, limited numbers so don't leave it too long to book!

UKRAINE – peace & restoration
• Pray for all those in Ukraine who have lost loved ones, homes, jobs and everything they once knew as their daily lives.
• Ask God to give them comfort and to bring peace and healing to their minds where there have been deep psychological and emotional impacts from trauma.
• Pray for Tearfund’s partners who are mentoring church leaders struggling with their faith in the face of prolonged suffering.
• Pray for the peace negotiations to continue and to bear fruit, bringing lasting peace.

MIDDLE EAST – peace & healing
• Pray for peace to reign across the region.
• Pray for our aid agencies and their partner staff across the region. As they deliver much-needed aid and support for the communities, let’s not forget that they are also members of the communities that they’re trying to help.
• Pray that God protects them, keeps their hearts, and gives them much-needed support in their minds, hearts, and souls to find that peace in order to give that peace to others as well.
• Pray for peacemakers and church leaders in the various communities to continue to be architects of enduring life, and pray for political leaders – that God moves their hearts away from injustice and towards peace and reconciliation.

DR Congo, South Sudan, Uganda: Ebola
There have been 220 suspected deaths from Ebola since an outbreak was declared in DR Congo on 15 May.
• Pray for ongoing protection for Church Mission Society (CMS) partner Bisoke and his colleagues, and for those they minister to through a peace centre in Bunia.
• Please also pray for mission partner Martin Gordon, Bishop of Goma, and local churches as they offer healthcare and support communities. Uganda has now fully closed its border with DR Congo, putting South Sudan at higher risk from anyone wanting to leave DR Congo.
• Pray for mission partner Nicci M, a doctor who focuses on paediatric and neonatal medical care in Juba, South Sudan, and her colleagues, as they handle whatever might come their way.
• Pray for protection from Ebola across all three countries, and for the virus to be contained.

At Sunday Club today we were studying Nahum 1:7.
We started out with a jigsaw with no picture, we just couldn't see the big picture from all the scattered pieces, but God can see the big picture of us, good bits and bad joined as a whole picture of us.
God had given Nahum important news for the city of Ninevah, a warning for people who were doing wrong and not following God. Consequences were coming! But God included a promise for anyone who followed and trusted God. "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him."
We had a think about times of trouble (does not wanting to go to school count?). Times of trouble are not comfortable but our hearts can feel comfort when we remember that God is with us.
We thought about Noah and his family who trusted God despite everyone else around doing the wrong things. God sent a flood and Noah and his family and the animals were cooped up in a small space together for 150 days (we struggled with 150 seconds!) We had fun experimenting with flooding and found out how difficult it is to dry up a flood, but God could do it and we can trust in Him.
