Alloa Elim Church 'the place to connect'
www.alloaelim.org.uk We are a diverse and friendly church, and welcome people of all ages. We are excited to be on this journey together.

We are growing in grace as we explore the practical ways of living out a faith-filled life as a disciple of Jesus. We have fun together and enjoy reading and discussing the Bible, and encourage people to ask questions. We don’t have everything in our lives sorted, but we have experienced the reality of the love of God, which is changing our lives and gives us hope for the future. You are very welcome to join us.

Happy Sunday everyone!

We hope you’ve enjoyed the sunny weather this week, and are keeping well.

If you missed us last Sunday, don’t worry. Come and join us this Sunday, and hear what Pastor Samba will be preaching on this weekend.

Last Sunday, we are so thankful to God for all He did amongst us during our service. His presence was extremely profound and we had a powerful time of worship together, it was wonderful.

Guest speaker Ikhide from Edinburgh Elim preached on Nehemiah 11:2. He emphasised that before we can do anything, we must pray first, as it helps us to know God’s will in the things we’re trying to start, helps us to align with God, and He will equip us.

Furthermore, for change to come, we need to prepare the people first, including addressing things that need to change in order to prepare. In Nehemiah’s case, it was social injustices.

Ikhide also highlighted that God used Nehemiah - a person just like us, who was not of a lineage of royalty, or that of priests like other prophets had been. Nehemiah simply had a burden and God used Him, partnered with Him to rebuild Jerusalem’s wall.

Other key messages:
- We need a tangible sense of God’s love to bring us together.
- Without (spiritual) authority people can revert back to their old ways
- All you need is faith, God will do the rest
- In times of challenge, or suffering, the Gospel can spread further
- We carry Jesus’ presence with us wherever we go
- God will lead you and help you as He did for Nehemiah

Happy Wednesday everyone from us at Alloa Elim church.

We had a wonderful time with you all on Easter Sunday, celebrating everything Christ has done for us through His death and resurrection, and reflecting on what that means for our lives today.

Pastor Samba shared a message from Luke 24, highlighting the suffering Jesus endured and how the Pharisees persuaded the crowd to call for His crucifixion. The central point of the message was this: if the story ended there—if Jesus had not risen—there would be no hope.

Samba also reminded us of the women who went to the tomb (Luke 24:1), likely wondering how they would move the stone. Yet when they arrived, it had already been rolled away (Luke 24:2). In many ways, life is like this—we face obstacles and challenges that seem immovable, but when we trust in God, He goes before us and makes a way.

Sometimes when we share the Gospel—like the women who told the disciples that Jesus had risen, and were not believed (Luke 24:9-11) —people may not believe us. But that doesn’t change the truth of what God has done for us.

In those moments, Jesus often reveals Himself in powerful ways, just as He did to the disciples, confirming His resurrection exactly as He had promised (Luke 24:13-35, then 24:36-49).

Pastor Samba also left us with this reminder: Jesus’ resurrection shows us that He can bring life to what seems dead. Samba asked us —what has been buried in our lives? What feels impossible or beyond hope? Whatever it may be, God is able to restore and renew it. As we place our trust in Him and believe His promises, we begin to see transformation not only in our own lives, but in those around us as well.

Here are more scriptures on this topic:
- Luke 24
- Revelation 5:1-5
- John 14:27
- John 2:13-22 (particularly 2:19-21)
- Matthew 16:21-23

If you missed us, please come along this Sunday. We can’t wait to see you there!
