🌿 God is often found in ordinary days

Most of our lives are not lived on feast days or mountaintops.

They are lived in ordinary moments:

* conversations with friends,
* caring for family,
* work,
* prayer,
* small acts of kindness.

Ordinary Time reminds us that holiness is not reserved for extraordinary people. It grows quietly as we learn to follow Christ day by day.

Where have you noticed God’s presence this week?

Next weekend’s second collection is for Day for Life.

💚 Day for Life – Next Weekend

Every human life is a gift from God, made in His image and worthy of love, dignity and protection.

Next weekend, Catholics across England and Wales will mark Day for Life, celebrating the sanctity of human life at every stage and in every circumstance.

Please keep this intention in your prayers throughout the coming week.

🌿 Ordinary Time is not Ordinary

After the great celebrations of Easter and Pentecost, the Church enters what we call Ordinary Time.

But “ordinary” does not mean unimportant.

It comes from a word meaning "ordered" or "numbered". This is the season when faith takes root in everyday life — in our homes, workplaces, friendships, struggles, and acts of service.

As Fr Rob reminds us this weekend:

“The work of the Church does not end when we leave the church; it begins at the dismissal when we are sent forth.”

May we discover Christ not only in extraordinary moments, but in the ordinary details of each day.

🌿 How might God be inviting you to grow this week?

❤️ The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Today, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Heart of Jesus is a sign of God’s boundless love for humanity—a love that is patient when we wander, faithful when we fail, and merciful when we return.

In a world that can often feel anxious, hurried, and divided, the Sacred Heart reminds us that we are deeply loved by Christ and invited to rest in Him.

Today, why not take a few moments to pray:

“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.”

If you would like to pray the Church’s official prayers for this feast, the Divine Office can be found here:

🙏 Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

✨ What do you see when you look at the Host?

The Feast of Corpus Christi, observed last Sunday, 7th June, reminds us that the Eucharist is not simply a symbol or a reminder.

The Church teaches that in Holy Communion we receive Jesus Christ Himself — Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

This is why Catholics genuflect, adore, and approach the altar with reverence.

As you pray today, perhaps take a moment to consider Jesus, and his real presence, given to us in the Eucharist and simply say:

Lord Jesus Christ,

You gave us the Eucharist
as the memorial of Your suffering and death.

May our worship of this sacrament
of Your Body and Blood
help us to experience the salvation You won for us
and the peace of the Kingdom

where You live with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

🙏 Please Pray for Fr Rob

Fr Rob is away this week on retreat.

▶ Monday 8th to Friday 12th June NO MASS

Please keep Fr Rob in your prayers during his retreat this week. As he steps away from the demands of parish life, may the Lord draw him more deeply into His presence, renew him in the grace of his priesthood, and refresh him in heart, mind, and spirit. May this time of prayer and silence bear fruit for Fr Rob and for our whole parish community. 🙏

“Come away by yourselves to a quiet place and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31)

✨ How Does God See You?

Many of us are far kinder to others than we are to ourselves.

We remember our mistakes, replay old regrets, and sometimes carry burdens that God never intended us to bear.

Yet the heart of the Gospel is this:

❤️ God does not see you as a failure.
❤️ God does not see you as a disappointment.
❤️ God does not look upon you with condemnation.

He sees you as His beloved child.

As Fr Rob reflects in this week’s newsletter, God’s desire is not to condemn us but to heal us. The Father welcomes us, Jesus lifts us up, and the Holy Spirit works gently within us to restore what has been wounded.

🙏 You are loved.
🙏 You are wanted.
🙏 You are precious in God’s sight.

😊 Could You Help Someone Feel at Home?

👋 A smile. A welcome. A short conversation.

Sometimes that's all it takes to help someone feel seen, return to church, find friendship, or even begin a journey of faith.

Every week, people come through the doors of St Mary's and St Joseph's who are new, returning to church after many years, visiting the area, or simply looking for a place to belong. We want to ensure that nobody comes to Mass feeling unnoticed, uncertain, or alone.

💙 Over the coming months, we will be launching a simple Welcome Team and are looking for warm, approachable people who would enjoy helping others feel at home in our parish community.

No special experience is needed, and there is no commitment at this stage—just an opportunity to find out more.

As well as helping others, many people find that serving in this way deepens their own sense of belonging, builds new friendships, and connects them more deeply to parish life.

☕ If this sounds like something you might enjoy, we'd love to hear from you.

📧 Email Jason at [email protected]

I will also be sharing more about the Welcome Team at all Masses in the coming weeks, with an opportunity to chat in person afterwards.

🙏 Together, let's help ensure that everyone who walks through our doors knows they are welcome.

God is eternal love shared and given.

And we are invited into that love.♥️

🔥 Pentecost Sunday – Come, Holy Spirit 🔥

This Sunday, 24th May, we celebrate Pentecost — the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and filled fearful hearts with courage, hope, and new life.

Pentecost reminds us that the Church was never meant to live by effort alone, but by the presence and power of God.

Where do you need the Holy Spirit this week?
