This evening we were talking about praying in tongues for situations and people when we don’t know how to pray and when we don’t want our prejudices to surface.
One or two of those present asked how to pray in tongues so we prayed for the gift to be given and then practiced the new languages. Just like a new born baby learning to talk it takes time and effort to use this gift.
An example of a prayer to receive this gift follows. Pray daily and practice making sounds like a new born baby learning and it won’t be long before you will be fluent.
Thank you most gracious father for the gift of
the holy spirit. Father, I call on you for the grace of a new language.
Father grant me the power to speak in tongues. submerge my soul in your Spirit and gift me with
the power to pray in tongues.
Thank you, Jesus, for everything.
