CEILIDH HEATING FUND RAISER.

Temperatures soared as calories burned at our fab ceilidh evening with various reels, jigs and polkas. It was a great success.
The Ceilidh band called Marmalade, Dave on bass, Sheridan on banjo, Clare on whistle, Mike on citern and Marian on fiddle, inspired us all to get moving with their addictive rhythmic folk music, and Richard looking very splendid in his kilt was a superb caller, and very good at instruction. Thank you.
To sustain energy levels , we all tucked into a hearty autumnal hotpot. Thank you to Margaret, Jack & Becky ,for organising and cooking the supper, it was delicious.
Thanks to Annette and her staff at the Festival Hall Alderley Edge who looked after us all ,and to Julie Parry and the fund raising committee who co ordinated the evening.

BANNER DEDICATION

The Wednesday craft group had been asked to create a banner depicting the famous reading from Isaiah ch 11 verses 1-9. About the coming of the Messiah, who will bring perfect justice, peace and harmony to the entire world., and natural enemies with be friends and children will play with snakes.
The Crafters have done a superb job, and were heartly thanked this morning as Robin blessed and dedicated the banner, which will hang in the St James chapel.
There's even a hooded friar on the back if the banner, copying the stain glass window "Suffer little Children to come unto me" in the chapel by James Powell & Sons whose glass works were based on the site of a Carmelite monastery on side of the River Thames at Whitefriars & logo is the hooded friar.

It certainly was, one unforgettable night. Live Jazz with Jazz Confessions featuring the TJ Johnson Trio. Thank you to all volunteers for making this a fun evening.All in aid of the heating project.

Its always a joy to have a Baptisim at our church, and welcome families and friends to celebrate and support the start of a babys journey in Christ.
Last Sunday we welcomed Margot Ivy and her family, whose parents Lilly and,Lewis had been baptised at St Philip & St James before.

On Sunday we said a fond farewell to our curate Amy.she came to us as a newly married curate to Tom and leaves us as a mother to gorgeous Arthur.

We have hugely benefited as a parish from Amy's ministry and her unflappable style and we wish her well and every blessing in her new Parish of St Mary the Virgin , in Lymm. Amy's induction is on 9th September at 7pm. If you would like to attend, please RSVP by 1st September.
