We've been hearing from partners who work across Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory as they respond to the news of a reported ceasefire agreement.

This staff member at Caritas Jerusalem is hopeful that there will be a serious possibility of peace and that their humanitarian work will be able to reach more people.

This Saturday: lots of gorgeous handmade gifts, refreshments AND SANTA!

Santa will be there from 12 noon to 1pm and we have about 20 free gifts for any children who come along.

It is our last event of 2024.

Sunday 10th November 2024 is Remembrance Sunday / 3rd before Advent

**Mass is at 10am at St John Stone's**

10:45am Churches Together in Ainsdale -
Act of Remembrance on the Village Green.

Uniformed groups will Parade from St John CofE car park at 10:30am to the green.

We gather on the village green to remember those who gave everything, that we might have our today. 🙏🏻❤️

Pray for better weather than last year! Forecast is for light rain and moderate breeze…so bring a brolly!!☂️

The clocks go back an hour this weekend, don't forget to put your clocks back as you go to bed Saturday evening.

Otherwise you will be way too early for Mass on Sunday morning, and will be very confused!

The feast of Saint John Stone is 25th October. Join us at Mass at 10am this Friday for a celebration of this special feast day when we remember all the English Martyrs.

Saint John Stone was an Augustinian friar who stood fearless against the chaotic backdrop of church and state in England. His unshakeable faith led him to refuse the Act of Supremacy – the declaration made by King Henry VIII asserting himself as the Head of the Church in England, replacing the Pope. John Stone's refusal cost him dearly. He was arrested, imprisoned, and eventually martyred

The next Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) gathering is on Thursday 3rd Oct from 10.30am in the Red Room in St John Stone's Parish House.

If you haven’t tried GIFT yet, or haven’t been for a while, why not come along? Anyone is welcome: the prayer time is about an hour, and includes:

Some appropriate music for musing and reflection

A scripture input for prayerful pondering

Sharing aspects of living our faith in Christ (especially relevant if you have recently done the Living Christ Retreat).

Intercessory prayers for ourselves and others

Finally, if you can’t get to a GIFT prayer meeting, don’t forget you can send a request for prayers via the parish office, and we will pray for you / your loved ones.
