As part of the 145th anniversary celebrations of the consecration of St John’s Church, Penrhyn-coch, it was decided to mark the occasion by planting a living cross made of snowdrops and crocuses. This will appear in the center of the lawn by the Church Hall community garden.

Snowdrops symbolize hope, resilience, and new beginnings, and are the first flowers to bloom at the end of winter; they will form the outline of the cross and appear first. The crocuses will bring the colours of spring and form the central part of the cross as the snowdrops begin to fade.

Join the initiative
If you would like to take part, be it planting, donating bulbs for the project, or planting in memory of a loved one, please let us know by Saturday, 19th September.

We do not expect to see flowers in the first Spring following planting (2027) but in years to come we hope that the cross will be a remarkable sight and a lasting reminder. The seating area in the community garden is an ideal setting where you can sit and admire the cross in Spring.

When will the planting take place?
On the morning of Saturday, 26th September, between 10 a.m. and 12pm (weather permitting). There will be tea and cake in recognition of your efforts and to celebrate the occasion. Further information will be published on the Church’s page closer to the time.

Fel rhan o ddathliadau pen-blwydd Eglwys Sant Ioan Penrhyn-coch yn 145 oed ers ei chysegru, penderfynwyd nodi’r achlysur wrth blannu croes fyw o eirlysiau (lili wen fach) a chrocws, yng nghanol y lawnt wrth yr ardd gymunedol yn Neuadd yr Eglwys.

Mae’r eirlysiau’n symboleiddio gobaith, gwydnwch a dechreuadau newydd a nhw yw’r blodau cyntaf i flodeuo ar ddiwedd y gaeaf. Bydd y rhain yn ffurfio amlinelliad y groes ac yn ymddangos yn gyntaf. Bydd y crocws yn dod â lliw’r Gwanwyn ac yn ffurfio’r groes ganolog wrth i’r eirlysiau ddechrau pylu.

Ymunwch yn y fenter
Os hoffech chi gymryd rhan yn y plannu, neu yn dymuno rhoi bylbiau tuag at y prosiect, neu blannu er cof am anwylyd a fyddwch gystal â rhoi gwybod i ni erbyn Sadwrn 19eg Medi.

Nid ydym yn disgwyl gweld llawer o flodau yn y Gwanwyn cyntaf ar ôl plannu’r bylbiau (2027) ond yn y blynyddoedd i ddod ‘rydym yn gobeithio y bydd y groes yn olygfa nodedig ac yn atgof parhaol. Mae’r ardal eistedd yn yr ardd gymunedol yn lleoliad delfrydol lle gallwch eistedd i edmygu’r groes yn y Gwanwyn.

Pryd fydd y plannu’n digwydd?
Ar fore Sadwrn 26ain mis Medi rhwng 10y.b.- 12.y.p. (â’r tywydd yn caniatáu). Mi fydd te a chacen am eich ymdrechion ac i ddathlu’r achlysur. Cyhoeddir rhagor o wybodaeth Facebook yr Eglwys yn agosach at yr amser.

Syniad hyfryd gan aelodau Sant Mihangel i ymweld ag Eglwysi eraill amgylch yr ardal weinidogaeth leol. Cynhaliwyd gwasanaeth hwyrol weddi fer ddwyieithog dan ofalaeth Nigel Hardy ym mhresenoldeb y Parch. Lynn Rees. Diweddglo hyfryd ar ddiwedd y wasanaeth (a gynhaliwyd ar noson ‘cysgodi’r haul’) wrth gymdeithasu dros baned yng nghefn yr Eglwys.

Penrhyn-coch Pilgrimage

On the evening of Wednesday, 12th August, St John’s Church, Penrhyn-coch welcomed a pilgrimage by members of St Michael’s Church, Eglwys Fach. A wonderful idea by members of St Michael’s to visit other churches within the local ministry area. A short, bilingual evening prayer service was held, led by Nigel Hardy and attended by Rev. Lynn Rees. The service, held during the total solar eclipse, concluded with a cup of tea at the rear of the church and a chance to socialize.
