God inhabits the praises of his people (Psalm 22v3).
Have you ever stopped to think what that means?
I read it this weekend, in passing, unintentionally really. But, as often is the case, sometimes something in the Bible just jumps out at you and reels you in. And this one got me thinking!
The verse doesn't say, 'He will if...', or single out the most holy of people. It simply says that He does. So, first and foremost, i can understand that this verse is for me, and you and all those who have accepted Jesus as their lord and saviour.
And then I thought, well what does it mean for God to inhabit our praise? But if we have accepted Jesus as our saviour, then the Bible tells us that His holy spirit dwells within us, so God inhabits us and is therefore within our praises.
But I have never worshipped with that image or understanding, or thought in my head before, that God is literally present in the words in my heart and the sound in my voice when I offer praise to him. Usually when i worship my heart is postured beyond myself. Its not that easy to visualise or comprehend. It requires a moment, a pause and some stillness.
However, I am convinced that if I, if we could worship from that place of knowing the inhabitation of God right there with us, within us, our worshio would be... will be, transformed to another place.
