As we enter the week leading up to Christmas – with all the busyness and excitement (and for many, some challenges too) – we just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone at Aberdeen Street Pastors!

We also wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all our volunteers who are involved with our ministry on the streets and in the schools, and all those who follow, support and encourage us – as we couldn’t do this without you 👏🏻 🙏🏻

We still have three more shifts before Christmas, and will have a team out on Hogmanay too, but we have been collating a bit of data over the year so far, and for our street work so far this year, we have:

- Been out on around 140 shifts throughout the year 👣
- Had around 720 volunteers giving almost 4000hrs of service to the community 🫶🏼
- Cared for over 270 vulnerable or isolated people (with some very specific aid given to some of those) 😔
- Given First Aid around 100 times and called for an Ambulance 50 times ⛑️
- Assisted people in general ways 180 times 👍🏻
- Provided practical support to homeless individuals 20 times 🙋‍♂️
- Prayed for people 150 times 🙏🏻
- Had 320 spiritual conversations 👥
- Served around 1800 hot drinks from the SP van ☕️
- Given out 1200 bottles of water💧
- Had nearly 1500 people on or around the van 🚐

Everything in the list above can help to make a difference in people’s lives, as we strive to listen, help and care for the people in our community, working in partnership with so many wonderful local groups and organisations to do so.

We pray that you have a peaceful, joyous Christmas and New year – and wish you all the best for 2026! 🎄 🎁 ❄️

16 children from primary 7 in a local school have just completed the Flourish course.

For the past 7 weeks, they have been learning about beliefs, self-esteem, confidence, social media, dreams and setting goals 🎯 👍🏻

The picture shows them working on a positive poster 💪🏻 about themselves after throwing their negative thoughts in the bin 🗑️

The School Pastor team have really enjoyed working with and supporting these young people during the course! 👏🏻

Thank you so much to all of the people who chose Aberdeen Street Pastors as part of the recent Co-op ‘Local Community Funding’ initiative, which we were successful in being selected as one of the charities/groups to benefit from! 👏🏻 🙏🏻 🥳

We will use the funds to support the School Pastors project that works in the schools in the St Machar Academy catchment area of the city. It will be used to buy games, crafts and resources that support the young people who attend our well-being groups 🏫 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 👍🏻

As it’s National Volunteers Week we just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all those who serve in and/or support our Street Pastor, School Pastor and Response Pastor groups, whether out on the streets, in the schools, at events, or behind the scenes.

We are so grateful for each and every one of you, and for all our supporters and followers who play a key role in what we do and continue to encourage, support and help us!

As Aberdeen Street Pastors we thank you for your support and encouragement through 2024 and wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

To those of you who have supported us we want to say a huge ‘thank you’ - whether that's been through your financial donations or good wishes, during 2024.

To those of you whom we've supported through the year, for whatever reason, it's been our pleasure and privilege to do so.

For those who are interested in what we’ve done, and some of our 2024 ‘stats’ we:

- Have helped over 250 lonely, isolated or vulnerable people to get back to family, friends or accommodation.

- Patched-up and given first aid to about 80 people (it’s those uneven steps and slippery pavements)

- Gave out 820 pairs of flip-flips (for those of you who danced too long in high heels!)

- Assisted over 500 revellers from venues and various locations back to their hotels or into taxis

- Went out on 140 shifts and put out 720 volunteers over Thurs, Fri & Sat night shifts (usually from 10pm to around 4am)

And for our School Pastors ministry, some of their key figures for the year are below…

- 468 hours in the past school year, in 3 schools, with a team of 7

- 4 pupils supported on 1-1 basis

- An average of 20 children supported twice a week at lunch clubs.

- 22 teenagers supported at weekly well-being groups, with 52 young people completing the Flourish course.

(Most of the School Pastors team volunteer the equivalent hours of one day per week!)

Wishing you all a Happy Hogmanay for tomorrow, and all the best for 2025!

We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us in getting our new Safe Space van – Victoria II - up and running 🙏🏻 🥳

Funding from the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund last year (and the many friends and social media ‘followers’ in Aberdeen who voted for us!) The Robertson Trust and the Trades Widows’ Fund Charity, plus continued support from Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland North East and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is all so hugely appreciated! 👏🏻 😀

We look forward to seeing you all, in our usual spot on Union Street, during Friday and Saturday nights – please feel free to drop by for a chat 👍🏻

If you’re in the city on Friday or Saturday nights over the festive season then it’s worth being aware of the (free) Night Buses that are running over that period. The link below has the relevant maps and timetables that we’d encourage people to be aware of and use as needed if you’re out and about in town.

The Free Weekend Night Bus Getting home couldn't be simpler. With late-night services departing from Aberdeen city centre every Friday and Saturday evening, we've got getting home covered.
