PRAYER TOPICS
1. Prayer for the People of Nepal and Tibet Pray that God will protect the people, provide for those in need, and bring hope and peace.
2. Prayer for Farmers and Our Climate Pray that God will strengthen farmers affected by droughts and floods and sustain their crops and livelihoods.
3. Prayer for Those in Need Pray that God will comfort those who are suffering and provide for the needs of vulnerable people.

MEDITATION
We live in a world that is constantly changing. News headlines bring uncertainty, communities face new challenges, and our own circumstances can change from one day to the next. What feels secure today may look very different tomorrow. Yet, in the midst of all this change, Jesus reminds us that He is “the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8). His character does not change, His promises do not fail, and His love for us never comes to an end.
God’s unchanging love gives us an anchor when life feels uncertain. We may not know what tomorrow will bring, but we know the One who holds tomorrow. When we are afraid, He is with us; when we are weary, He strengthens us; and when we feel lost, He remains faithful.

Aberdeen Springfield Church News for Sunday 6th September 2026:

Monday morning – Cyrenians collection from 10 – 11 a.m. There will also be a Fairtrade stall and Jean’s Jams.

EVERY WEDNESDAY our PRAYER GROUP meets in the Douglas Lounge at 10.30 a.m. Coffee and fellowship will follow. All welcome.

The Guild resumes on Wednesday 9th September at 2 p.m. in the Church Hall. All welcome.

The next meeting of the Bible Study will be on Wednesday 16th September at 7.30pm in the vestry. The Bible Study will run fortnightly until the 9th December and you are all welcome to come along. Any questions please contact the Church Office

Coffee Chat & Companionship (C.C.C.) the fourth Wednesday of every month. The group is open to everyone whatever their age who enjoy meeting others over a coffee, for some company and a chat. Douglas Lounge at Springfield Church, where you will be made most welcome". Next meeting on Wednesday 23rd September at 2.30 p.m.

PRAYER TOPICS
Prayer for the World. Pray that God would bring peace to nations affected by war and conflict, and give wisdom to world leaders.
Nepal Flood and Landslide Disaster. Pray that God will comfort those who have lost loved ones, strengthen those still waiting for news, and give wisdom and protection to those involved in the rescue and relief efforts.
Prayer for Our Church. Pray that God would strengthen our church, deepen our hunger for Him, and make us a light in our community.

MEDITATION
Sometimes our hearts are divided without us even noticing. We can spend Sunday singing about surrender, and by Monday we are anxious about things we said we had placed in God’s hands. We can say that God is enough, yet still find ourselves constantly chasing the approval, success, comfort, and distractions that the world offers. We can pray, “Lord, I trust You,” while still holding tightly to our own plans because we are afraid of what might happen if we truly let go. Maybe today God is simply asking us: “Will you trust Me with all of it?”
Not just the parts that are easy to surrender, but the plans, the worries, the relationships, the future, and the things we secretly struggle to release.
Psalm 86:11 gives us a beautiful prayer:
“Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
Lord, give us hearts that are not pulled in two directions. Help us to choose You again and again, until our trust in You is greater than our desire to control what happens next.

The Seniors meet on Wednesday 2nd September at 2 p.m. in the Church Hall when Ali Cameron will give a talk on What Lies Beneath. This will be followed by tea and a fine piece and then entertainment by the Finzean ukelele group. All welcome. Cost £3.

The Bible Study will start this Wednesday 2nd September at 7.30pm in the vestry. The Bible Study will run fortnightly until the 9th December and you are all welcome to come along. The theme for this week is Preparing for Communion and the readings are Matthew 26:17-30 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-34. Any questions please contact the Church Office.

PRAYER TOPICS
1. Prayer for God’s Word to guide our lives. Pray that we will listen to God and allow His Word to direct our decisions and daily lives.
2. Prayer for those who need God’s light. Pray that God will give hope and strength to those facing uncertainty, sadness, or difficult circumstances.
3. Prayer for us to be a light to others. Pray that our words and actions will reflect God’s love and bring encouragement to those around us.

MEDITATION
Social media has become a major part of everyday life, especially for younger people. It can help us connect, learn, and share, but it can also affect how we see ourselves and others. Young people can easily compare their lives with the carefully presented lives they see online. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, anxiety, and a desire for acceptance. As Christians, we are reminded that our worth does not come from likes, followers, or the opinions of others. Our identity and value come from God. In a world filled with many voices, we need to ask: Whose voice are we listening to? As Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” May God’s Word guide us and remind us of who we truly are.
