Last Sunday in our Bible for All service we considered the seemingly irreconcilable attributes of God’s justice and His mercy. How can sinners like us have mercy in salvation and forgiveness and God remain just and holy........the only answer to this is found in the cross of Jesus Christ where the price for sin was paid. No other religious message comes with an answer to this issue. Some promise forgiveness or pardon but the basis of it really isn’t clear or isn’t really good enough. Only the gospel of God offers a fully paid salvation!

God’s message for all humanity is good news like nothing else. It comes to everyone, however bad. It is needed by everyone, however good. Because we are all sinners and we all need salvation. In this message from the book of 1st Timothy we considered how worthy of acceptance this message is. Without hesitation and withour reservation take hold of God’s salvation in Jesus Christ. Like the man called Saul of Tarsus that this verse first referred to, your life will never be the same again!

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
This is the wonderful promise of the Gospel. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have done, God’s offer of salvation is for you. If you come to God in true repentance, accepting that you are a sinner with no means in and of yourself to be made right with God, and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness - you “shall be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:3-4 “God our Saviour, who desires all people to be saved”
Something of the loving character of God is revealed by this amazing verse. Though we have all sinned and rebelled against Him, His desire is still that all would come to Him in faith. His love is again demonstrated towards us in the giving of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross. He did so willingly that there may be a just way for God to forgive sin, by offering Himself as a perfect sacrifice. Because of His love for us, God has gone to the greatest length imaginable to provide a way for you to be with Him in heaven. We urge you today to accept the gracious offer of salvation by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ today as your saviour.

The bible teaches that sin and death are enemies of humanity. Sin impacts us daily and the inevatibility of death constantly hangs over the human experience. But in Jesus Christ the answer is found! For those that trust in Him, He breaks the power of sin in life and He removes its penalty eternally! And death takes on a different role in life altogether. No longer feared. No longer seen as the end of life. The resurrection of Christ on the third day declares that its victory is broken and life eternal can be found in Him. What good news for all this really is!

Ask people what they think of Jesus Christ and the most common answer will be that He was a good teacher. Misunderstood and wrongly killed but a good teacher. That may be a popular view but it can’t be true! The words of Jesus Christ won’t allow you to put Him in that category. What He taught and who He claimed to be means that we can only rightly have one of three concluding opinions about Christ: He is either a Lunatic, a Liar or He is LORD!
