THE FEAR OF GOD
Scripture Focus: Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
The fear of God is not being terrified of Him; rather, it is having a deep reverence, honor, respect, and obedience toward God. It is recognizing His holiness, sovereignty, power, and authority over all creation. A person who fears God seeks to please Him in thoughts, words, and actions.
What Does It Mean to Fear God?
The fear of God means:
Reverencing God's presence.
Obeying His commandments.
Hating sin and evil.
Living a life that honors Him.
Trusting Him completely.
