Please find below a bilingual prayer for Fire Fighters that has been written by Rev Catherine Lewis, Presbyter Methodist Cymru, whose husband is an active fire fighter in South East Wales. It has been circulated via Synod to be shared with all churches in the Circuit for use in in worship this Sunday.

A Prayer for our Fire Fighters

God of all Creation,
As the effects of Climate Change are laid out before us in the dried-up streams, rivers and canals.
And in the fields that have turned from patches of green to brittle stemmed yellows.
We pray for all effected by the wildfires raging across our lands.
We pray for all whose livelihoods will be and are being affected.
And we pray for those who are living in fear of the flames near to their homes and communities.
We pray especially for our fire-fighters who are exhausted from the ongoing battle to keep the fires contained.
Who see the devastation on the wildlife close at hand, and yet, in teams continue to work both night and day.
God of all creation, receive our prayers. Receive our prayers and sustain all those living through and working in these situations.
In the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Dduw’r cread cyfan,
Rydym yn gweld effeithiau newid hinsawdd – maen nhw wedi eu gosod allan o’n blaenau. Mae ein nentydd, ein hafonydd a’n camlesi yn sych. Mae’r caeau yn felyn a chrin yn lle bod yn glytwaith glas.
Gweddïwn dros bawb sy’n dioddef effeithiau’r tanau gwyllt sy’n llosgi ar draws ein tiroedd.
Gweddïwn dros bawb y mae ac y bydd eu bywoliaeth yn dioddef.
A gweddïwn dros bawb sy’n byw mewn ofn am fod y fflamau yn agosáu at eu cartrefi a’u cymunedau.
Gweddïwn yn arbennig dros ein diffoddwyr tân sy’n parhau i frwydro er mwyn cadw’r tanau dan reolaeth er eu bod wedi ymlâdd.
Y diffoddwyr tân sy’n gweld drostynt eu hunain y difrod i fywyd gwyllt ond sydd, er gwaethaf popeth, yn parhau i weithio ddydd a nos yn eu timau.
Dduw’r cread cyfan, clyw ein gweddi. Clyw ein gweddi a chynnal bawb sy’n byw a gweithio dan yr amgylchiadau hyn.
Yn enw Iesu Grist. Amen.

Sunday 26th July at Green Street at 4pm ( no 10.30am service) is the Circuit Farewell Service to Rev Malcolm Peacock. It is his final service before” sitting down” ( Methodist Ministers don’t retire - they just sit down!) . Rev Andrew Charlesworth ( District Chair) will be preaching. Everyone will be most welcome.

This Sunday is Rural Mission Sunday and, this year, we are celebrating those individuals in our rural communities whose care and service often goes unnoticed.

Prayer with us 🙏

Creator God,
You are the Lord of the harvest, and your presence is woven into the
changing seasons and the rhythms of our countryside.
Today, we open our hearts in thankfulness for the communities in which we live, work, and worship.
We praise you for the beauty of the earth, for the fields that feed us, and for the life that thrives in our villages and rural spaces.
We give you thanks for the "rural stars" among us; those whose faithful service keeps our communities alive.
Amen.

Prayers and resources have been created by the Arthur Rank Centre, a Christian charity which is passionate about the importance of small rural churches and the often-unseen work they do.

Today marks the start of Methodist Conference 26 💛

We hope you'll join us as we pray for the success of the conference 🙏:

'Gathering God,
As Methodists come together in your name,
you are here.
May your Spirit be the inspiration and guide
throughout the Conference.
May your love, grace, and justice
be seen in the listening, conversations, and decisions made.
Help all gathered to be attentive to your tender voice
and respond with open hearts, minds, and hands.
May the fruit of this Conference
be a clear demonstration of your Kingdom at work.
Amen.'

If you're at Methodist Conference this year, be sure to keep an eye out for the All We Can team, who'd love to say hello 👋
