Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

We are looking forward to our July Messy Church which will be the last Messy Church of the summer term. We will not be meeting in August and this will give us an opportunity to sort out our Messy Church resources and take stock. Messy Church will start again in September after the summer holidays.

Last month we began the first part of the story of Joseph ending with his journey into Egypt. This month we will look at the adventures he had in Egypt and how eventually he met up with his brothers again and forgave them. We have lots of fun crafts illustrating the things Joseph did and said, so do come along and enjoy the afternoon activities.

We look forward to seeing you all next week …..

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

We all had great fun at our Easter Messy Church at St Lawrence in April. The weather was glorious and the children had a wonderful afternoon in the churchyard looking for clues to their Easter Treasure trail. Once completed, everyone made their way to the church hall and found “treasure” at the end for all the children. The afternoon continued in the church hall with lots of Easter related crafts and activities followed by an Easter party tea for everyone.

We are continuing our theme on stories Jesus might have been told as a child and this month we will hear the story of Daniel in the Lion’s Den. It is a wonderful story full of action and suspense! We have lots of fun crafts many of them reflecting Daniel and the lions, so do come along and enjoy the afternoon activities.

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers
We had brilliant fun last month at Messy Church! We are starting to look at the stories Jesus would have heard from his parents when he was a boy and we looked at the story of David and Goliath. We had lots of David and Goliath crafts including by far the most popular which was making a sling out of paper cups and shooting tin foil “stones” at a huge picture of the giant!
We shall be continuing the theme of stories that Jesus would have heard and this month we will be looking at the story of Jonah and the whale. There are lots of fun activities that we have planned for you all around this theme with lots of whales and fishes and this also includes fish fingers for Messy Tea! So make sure you came along and join in the fun.

November 2024 Newsletter
Methodist Church: High Street, A/L
Wednesday 13th November
3.30 – 5.45pm

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

As the days grow shorter and it gets dark in the evening so quickly, we are looking forward to November’s Messy Church to brighten these cold, dull days! We have lots of exciting things to do this month and hope you will come along and join us!

We are continuing with our theme that we started in September which is the “I am…” saying of Jesus. This month our topic is Jesus’ saying:- “I am the way, the truth and the life”. Dennis will be telling us a story about “The Way” and we will be following up with lots of brilliant crafts including a road and a compass!

Our new secure door policy [when the children go into church (usually around 3.50pm) the entrance door will be locked by the adults putting out the crafts and any late comers will need to ring the doorbell which can be heard in the hall] is working well. People who come after the door is locked now know to ring on the bell to alert the volunteers. However, if you leave before the end, please could you tell one of the volunteers so they can lock the door behind you.

With safety in mind, just a reminder that all children at Messy church are the responsibility of their parents and carers and if a parent/carer is not there they must be looked after by another parent in the hall and not a volunteer.

So we look forward to seeing you all on…..

September 2024 Newsletter
Methodist Church: High Street, A/L
Wednesday 11th September
3.30 – 5.45pm

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers
We are so looking forward to seeing you all again after the long summer holidays and catching up with your news. Although we didn’t have a Messy Church during August, the Messy Church volunteers were still kept busy as we got together to sort out our MC cupboard!! It is now looks nice and tidy and it will mean we can find the things we know are there!!

At our August planning meeting the volunteers discussed matters of safety during our Messy Church sessions particularly in the light of the Southport tragedy. We do like to have an open door policy but we need to remain vigilant so we have decided that we should lock the doors once everyone is in. So, when the children go into church, which is usually around 3.55pm, the entrance door will be locked by the adults putting out the crafts. Any late comers will need to ring the doorbell which can be heard in the hall. We will put a notice on the inside of the door informing people to ring the bell. We will unlock the door after Messy Tea when people start to leave. We hope this will allay any concerns people may have.

So we look forward to seeing you all next week ….. This term we are taking Jesus’ “I am” sayings as our theme and this month our topic will be: “I am the Bread of Life” so our crafts will be “bread” related!!

ST LAWRENCE CHURCH
Wednesday 10th July from 3.30pm

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

As this will be our last Messy Church of the term, we will be having it at St Lawrence. This will give us the opportunity to play some games outside and to have a trail round the church yard before the we move into the Church hall for our crafts and party tea. We are hoping for some fine weather and a nice warm sunny afternoon … fingers crossed!! If this is not the case, no problem, we will have our trail round the church instead!

Our Messy Church theme is “The Teachings and Actions of Jesus”. Over the last two months we have heard the parable of the Good Samaritan and about the healing of the paralysed man. This month is the last in the series and we will listen to the parable of the sower … how we hear Jesus’ words and act on them in our own lives. We have lots of fun crafts, and a trail through the churchyard so do come along and enjoy the afternoon activities.

We look forward to seeing you all next week …..

Wednesday 1st May from 3.30pm

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

We had a super Easter Holiday Messy Church in April at St Lawrence’s Church. Our theme was New Life and we started the afternoon in Church with worship. We followed this with a treasure hunt which was supposed to be in the Churchyard but because it rained (again!!) we had the hunt around church. From the church, we went down to the hall where we had lots of fun crafts and activities including planting seeds, making Easter chicks and Easter baskets. We ended the afternoon with a Messy Tea party.

This month Messy Church will be a week earlier than usual, on Wednesday 1st May, unfortunately we don’t have enough volunteers for the 2nd Wednesday this month. Our theme for the next few months will be Jesus’ teachings and actions. We will start by looking at one of Jesus’ parables, the parable of the Good Samaritan and Jesus’ teaching to love one another.
We will be back in our normal venue at the Methodist Church.
