13/06/2026

Join us in our daily diocesan cycle of prayer as we think especially of all those we journey in faith with as a diocesan family; for our partners, relationships and people. Today, we especially pray for our women clergy and ask that more may answer your call to serve in our diocese.

It was announced today that David will be moving from Brittany at the end of August. He says “We will be sad to say goodbye to our friends in Brittany. I will be keeping you in my prayers, as the Chaplaincy Council plan for the coming months with the support of myself and the Archdeacon.”

Our last Sunday in Brittany will be 23rd August and the licensing service in Kent will most likely be on the 10th September.

The official announcement is below:

“The Bishop of Rochester is pleased to announce that, subject to completion of the usual legal formalities, The Revd David McLeod is to be appointed to the dual-role post of Associate Archdeacon of Rochester and Vicar of Princes Park, Chatham.

“David currently lives in Brittany, where he moved with his family when he became Chaplain to Christ Church Brittany and the first Area Dean of North West France. His role as chaplain included serving four worship centres, helping people to grow as disciples, building community and strengthening good relationships with local churches. His wealth of experience in parish ministry, which spans more than 20 years, will certainly be put to very good use here. While much of his priestly ministry has been in Oxford Diocese, David knows this area well, having grown up just 6 miles away… David is married to Sue, and they have 16-year-old twins and a much-loved family dog. Prior to ordination David worked for 10 years as an Occupational Therapist specialising in stroke and brain injury patients. Away from his priestly ministry, he enjoys outdoor activities such as walking, paddle-boarding and cycling. He is also a keen photographer, and plays the ukulele… Please hold David, Sue and the family in your prayers as they prepare to move over the summer.”

82 years ago, tens of thousands of courageous British and Allied soldiers, sailors and aircrew took part in the D-Day landings, the largest seaborne invasion in history. They came to France to liberate mainland Europe from a great evil.

This weekend we remember the service and sacrifice of all those involved, commencing the liberation of France and Western Europe and turning the tide in the Second World War. Together with personnel from the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Denmark and Poland, British forces showed immense courage, and endured great sacrifice.

We will remember them.

"I am delighted to see these new diocesan prayer resources. Shared prayer is above all what unites us as a diocese. In prayer we draw closer to God and closer to each other. I use the prayer diary every day and I am really pleased to see it launched in a renewed form. I hope the new materials will be widely used across our diocese."
Bishop Robert

Service of Holy Communion 31st May 2026

29/05/2026

Please pray for the Archdeaconry of Switzerland: Archdeacon: Peter Hooper. Pray for Peter with his responsibilities for Switzerland alongside those he holds in France. Also as he approaches retirement.
Also for the chaplaincies in:
Basel: Lord God, you sent your Son to save the world, and your Spirit to guide the church; we pray for this chaplaincy and their own sense of being sent into their world. We pray for their homes and streets, their places of work and leisure, and ask that each might shine as a light set upon a hill, for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Berne: (Also serves Thun and Neuchâtel) We pray for their continued growth in faith and love.
