Too busy to read God's Word? Here are 5 tips to make time for it!

Nowadays, our schedules seem to pile up extra quickly. Almost everyone is busy and there's never a lack of things to do. In the midst of being overwhelmed, it so often seems that the first thing to go out of the window is the time we have to read God's Word.

We know that it's important to read God's Word. We all agree with Psalm 119:105 when it tells us, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." But why do we still sometimes find ourselves neglecting our daily Bible reading?

That's because desire is not enough. Think about it. You can desire a cheeseburger with fries all day long, but just wanting one won't make one fall on your lap. There's no reason to not believe that it works the same way with our desire to read the Bible. So what do we need?

What we need is a plan- a strategy to get into a Bible reading habit and to stick to it. Here are five steps to making time to read the Word of God even when we're extremely busy.

Start small. If you're only starting or re-starting a Bible-reading habit, don't expect to read one book a day. Starting small is always the wisest way to go. When we are faithful with the little, God will entrust us with more. (Luke 16:10) You can start of with reading a few verses or a chapter for a few minutes a day. It's not about how much of the Bible you know but how much of it you apply.

Find the time that suits you best. Generally reading the Bible in the morning works for most people, but it doesn't work for all. I know people who find reading during lunch, in the afternoon or even at night working better for them. Bible reading is about building a relationship with God and that relationship might look different from others. What matters is that it works for you.

Set aside a place for meditation. Aside from deciding when you will read your Bible it's also important to know where. Do you like meditating in a cafe, at home, in the office or in your room? The most important thing is we read where we can really give the Word the focus it deserves.

Don't just read. Meditate. It can't be stressed enough how important meditation is. Reading for the sake of reading will always seem like a chore but meditating on the Word makes it a delight. Meditation brings about delight.

Commit to do it daily. Reading the Word is a discipline. Just like any other discipline (exercising, eating healthy and so on) it takes small rudiments done over a long period of time. We must commit to do it daily for a long time, not just seasonally.

Why S*x Should Never Be the Goal of People Who Want to Get Married

S*x is a wonderful gift from God that is most enjoyed in the boundaries and precepts of marriage. And just like any of God's wonderful gifts, s*x is meant for married couples to enjoy in God's time and context.

However, when marriage becomes just a justification for s*x, we miss the point.

What is the goal of marriage? Is it just physical intimacy? God's initial and all-encompassing design for marriage shows us that marriage is meant for so much more. Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

The goal of marriage is complete oneness for the pleasure and glory of God. Oneness goes more than just physical attachment to one another but oneness in every way—being united in the midst of uniqueness and differences and being one in purpose, desire and spiritual hunger.

S*x As a Means, Not an End

Think of it this way: When businessmen make money the goal of a venture, chances are it will never work out. If you're into entrepreneurship, you'll know that putting up a start-up needs a more compelling "why" than just a thicker bottom line. Money is only a means to get to your final goal—whether that's helping people, providing a great product, or using a business to support a family.

It works the same way with marriage. Think of s*x as money—a tool to get to our goal. Oneness is our "why." S*x can get us to oneness but it is not complete oneness. When we make marriage just about s*x, we set it on just one pillar. Have you ever seen a house on just one pillar? I don't think so. A structure will always need multiple pillars to stand just as a marriage needs more than just physical intimacy to achieve oneness.

The Goal Is to Glorify God

The Westminster Shorter Catechism states that, "Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever."

This is also true for the way we conduct marriages. Our marriages exist first and foremost to honour God and experience His goodness.

When God joined Adam and Eve, it delighted Him. And as He set the two as one in the garden, He provided them with all they needed. Our marriages are like that picture of Adam and Eve in the garden. We are given this chance to recreate Eden in our own marriages as a couple—as one—pursues God's presence together and experience His goodness together.

5 Bible verses on how a Christian woman should dress

How should a Christian woman dress is one of the subjects of heated debates amongst Christians. How modest is modest? What did the Bible say about appropriate dressing? What's acceptable and what's not?

Modest dressing isn't just for when you go to church; its how one dresses every day. The worldly women may have taught you that whenever you leave the house, you have to prepare for a fashion show, one that will show off what you have and get attention from others. While there is nothing wrong with taking care of your looks, be wary of crossing the line and inviting lust from men instead.

Looking good doesn't have to mean showing off skin that a Christian woman shouldn't. I know that the fashion world now shows that the more skin you show, the s*xier you are. But hey, Christian women should know better.

There are a number of verses in the Bible that speak directly to Christian women and how they should dress. Let's give them a look now so you can be guided accordingly too.

1. Women should dress modestly.

1 Timothy 2:9-10 "Paul said: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."

In the Bible, it is clear that women must dress decently and modestly. Women must not take pride in wearing jewelry and accessories but instead, take pride with the good deeds they have done. This goes without saying that God wants women to clothe themselves with good works and not expensive clothes which are material in nature.

2. The beauty inside is what matters.

1 Peter 3:2-5 "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.

Quite similar to the scripture above, this verse from Peter talks about how inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. God always looks at the heart, not the clothes, not the jewelry and not the riches. So, it's not also just about the good deeds you do that makes you beautiful, it is your gentle quiet spirit and pure heart that makes you shine.

3. Women should always dress accordingly.

Deutoronomy 22:5 "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God."

I know that the fashion industry today broke down the walls between male and female fashion. It's like everyone can wear anything they want and society allows it. However, we don't follow what society dictates; we follow what God says. In Deutoronomy, it said that we cannot cross dress. What's made for women should only be worn by women and what's made for men must only be worn by men. Let this be a gentle reminder.

4. A Christian woman must always practice good judgment when dressing.

Proverbs 11:22 "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."

A truly beautiful woman must practice discernment because this shows that she can make good choices. The verse says that if a woman doesn't have discernment, then she will make poor choices just like a pig would. Beauty on the outside means nothing if a woman cannot discern whether she's dressing appropriately or not. A truly beautiful woman fears the Lord and that is what makes Christian women attractive.

5. Dress yourself with strength and dignity.

Proverbs 31:25 "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."

The Bible spoke about a woman dressing based on her heart. So if a woman likes to dress sensually, then her heart is evil as well. This scripture from Proverbs proves that a woman need not dress a s*xy way just for a man to like her. If a woman is clothed with strength and dignity, she will be confident enough to say that "I am God's wonderful and beautiful creation!"

I honestly believe that it's challenging for women to dress modestly nowadays due to what society says. Nonetheless, I also believe that if your feet are grounded in God's word and this worldliness will not have much effect on you. Always pray that the Lord may God you. Do not ever compromise. Our God is faithful and He sees the beauty inside you!

6 Signs of the Last Days: share, like and comment.

Here are six signs that we’re living in the last days, just prior to Christ’s return.
1 Many Will Come in His Name
========================
One of the signs that occur prior to Jesus’ return is that “many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray” (Matthew 24:5). Maybe it’s me, but it seems there are more false teachers and preachers today who proclaim a different gospel than God requires than there ever used to be when I was a boy. Rarely do you hear Jesus’ gospel preached anymore. How often do you hear repentance and faith mentioned (Mark 1:15)? It’s interesting that Jesus said “many” and not “a few” will be led astray. Does this mean false teachers will have the largest audiences? Not in all cases; but in “many” of them, yes. Jesus mentions “many” again where He says, “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord.’” But Jesus tells these same “many,” “Depart from me, for I never knew you” (Matthew 7:21-23)!
2 Lovers of Self
============
One of the signs the Apostle Paul gave about the end times is that it’s going to be harder and harder to be a Christian. Paul writes, “That in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4). Does this describe the society in which you live? Do many where you live feel a sense of “entitlement” or that something’s owed them?”
3 Increased Martyrdom
==================
Jesus gives another sign of the end of the age when He says, “They will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake” (Matthew 24:9). Voice of the Martyrs researchers discovered that the number of Christians who were martyred between the year 2000 and 2010 was about one million. That works out to be about 100,000 martyred every year. That single decade had more martyrs than in the previous 2,000 years!
4 Increasing Lawlessness
====================
The latest news is that one of the largest U.S. cities recently recorded 500 homicides, and that was only halfway through the year! Is it any wonder that Jesus warned that “lawlessness will be increased” (Matthew 24:12) and “many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another” (Matthew 24:10). Gone are the days when you could take a walk in any part of town and in just about any city. It was like that when I was a boy. Today we live in a society where there are places that even the police don’t go.
5 Lovers of Money
===============
We need money to survive; but when money becomes a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10) and, as James wrote, deprives some of their fair day’s wages, that is an evil thing before God. When more and more men and women become lovers of money (I wonder what the percentage is now), you can see one of the signs of the end of the age, as the Apostle Paul wrote that “people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud” (2 Timothy 3:2). James rebukes the rich in writing, “Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts” (James 5:4).
6 Man-made and Natural Calamities
============================
A sixth sign, which is to occur prior to Jesus’ return, is both man-made and natural: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places” (Matthew 24:7). Even though these are only “the beginning of the birth pains” (Matthew 24:8), there certainly seems to be an increase in hurricanes, floods, droughts, fires, earthquakes, famines, and disease. We are also witnessing increasing tensions between nations. Is that also a sign we’re living in the last days?
Conclusion
=========
Of course, there are many more than just these six signs. You can probably think of others. If so, please leave us a comment with the Scripture. When you see these signs begin to intensify, it could be that we really are living in the last days, although the church has always lived that way, with the expectation of His return at any moment. They have believed this for the last 2,000 years, so we don’t know when that time is. All we must do is seek the lost and tell them they must be saved today while it’s still called “today” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
