In the Book of Job, before Job’s friends said anything wrong, they showed a powerful example of true friendship — and this is the part we should follow.
Job’s three friends — Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite — first demonstrated something beautiful:
Their Real Strength — The Example We Should Follow
Before they spoke a single word:
• They came when they heard he was suffering.
• They wept with him when they saw his pain.
• They tore their robes and put dust on their heads, showing deep sorrow.
• They sat with him for seven days and seven nights in silence.
• No one said anything, because they saw how great his suffering was.
Why This Matters
Their greatest act was not their speeches — it was their presence.
Sometimes:
• The best comfort is not advice.
• The best help is not explanation.
• The best love is simply being there.
They shared his grief without trying to fix it.
They allowed his pain to be real.
They chose compassion before correction.
The Lesson for Us
When someone is hurting:
• Sit with them.
• Listen.
• Cry with them.
• Don’t rush to judge or explain.
That silent support was their finest moment and it is a model of friendship we all need to follow
