As Christmas approaches, we can say:
👉“The Lord, King of glory, is coming.”
But He doesn't come with fanfare or human power, but as a small and fragile Child, in need of welcome. God draws near in this way, asking for a place in our hearts. But let us remember that, although He was born in a manger, everything belongs to the Lord. As the psalm tells us: 👉“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
In this final stretch of Advent, we are asked: 👉“Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?”
☝️It's not about great merits or perfection, but about something very simple and very demanding at the same time. It's about a clean heart and pure hands, ready to serve. It's about a heart that desires to love, that recognizes its limitations, that doesn't deceive itself or live a lie. It's about forgiving, about welcoming.
Because this Redeemer Child comes to give you Salvation; this Child, King and Lord of Glory, seeks only humble hearts, like Mary's. Watchful hearts, like Joseph's. Simple hearts, like the shepherds'. These are the human qualities that will receive God's blessing.
On the other hand, remember that the true gift is not what we will have on the table or under the tree, because the true gift is 👉 the presence of God among us, Emmanuel, God with us.
☝️Therefore, let us open the doors of our souls, let us purify our hearts with trust, hope, and love.
Let us repeat within ourselves: 🙏 The Lord, the King of Glory, is coming; may He find dwelling in me. Amen.
🫂 Thank you for your attention.
