How much do you know about the Anglican Church In Palma?
Written by Shirley Roberts, Church Warden
As we begin our 60th Anniversary year we are going to give you occasional snippets of information about us. Hope you enjoy the chatter and find some of your questions answered.
All about us - begins here…
• The Anglican Church in Palma together with Pollensa, are one of 142 chaplaincies within the Diocese in Europe.
• The Diocese in Europe is the 42nd diocese of the Church of England and the largest.
• The Church of England, through the Church Commissioners, appoints the Bishops to the Diocese of Europe
• Funding for the Anglican Church in Palma is locally self-supporting, including paying a stipend to the Vicar. The Anglican Church in Palma also pays a fee annually to the Diocese, called ‘The Common Fund’. This money contributes to the general services of the Diocese of Europe.
• We share an English-Language Ministry. Following the Anglican tradition. We support people living, travelling or visiting Mallorca, who speak English as a first or second language. This means many in the congregation, and in church membership, come from other denominations. We welcome their influences on our worship style and encourage diversity.
•
The Diocese in Europe, through its churches, actively supports and ministers to refugees and migrants across its region, including Mallorca. This is a ‘mission’ of all churches in the Diocese of Europe.
Much more information to come. We hope you have enjoyed the beginning of our story for the year.
Pic of our newest generation - we are blest...
