Newgrange
Monumento megalítico de Irlanda, datado (aproximadamente), el 3200 a.C. Fue construido al menos, 500 años antes que las pirámides más antiguas de Egipto, como la de Guiza. Este monumento, de gran tamaño, tiene una orientación concreta sobre la que se basó su construcción. Está alineado al primer rayo del amanecer del solsticio de invierno, al momento en el que la luz entra a través de un espacio por la parte superior de la puerta (foto n. 3 y n. 4 – siglo.XIX) e ilumina la cámara central del monumento, por un sistema físico de reflexión de la luz. Newgrange pertenece a una agrupación de yacimientos, englobados en el conjunto arqueológico Brú na Bóinne. En él se reúnen más de 90 monumentos, entre los cuales destacan los grandes túmulos funerarios de Newgrange, Knowth y Dowth. Y, por todo esto, fue nombrado Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO en 1993.

Newgrange
Megalithic monument in Ireland, dated (approximately) 3200 BC. It was built at least 500 years before the oldest pyramids in Egypt, such as the pyramid at Giza. This large monument has a specific orientation on which its construction was based. It is aligned to the first ray of dawn at the winter solstice, the moment when light enters through a space at the top of the doorway (photo num. 3 and num. 4 - 19th century) and illuminates the central chamber of the monument by a physical system of light reflection. Newgrange is one of a group of sites included in the Brú na Bóinne archaeological ensemble. It contains more than 90 monuments, including the great burial mounds of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth. For all these reasons, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
