The Movement for Progressive Judaism (MPJ) and Arzenu Olami have teamed up for a discussion event at 7pm on Wednesday 10 June 2026, inspired by the new book Progressive Judaism, Zionism and the State of Israel.

Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Rabbi Josh Levy (MPJ Co-Leads), Rabbi Mark Goldsmith (Senior Rabbi of Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue - EHRS) and Rabbi Jordan Helfman (Senior Rabbi of Oaks Lane Reform Synagogue / Vice Chair of Arzenu) will explore the themes of the book and ask: 'What next for Progressive Jews, Zionism and the State of Israel?'

Dekel Houmash, Executive Director of Arzenu – the political voice of Progressive Religious Zionists within the World Zionist Organisation – will introduce the evening.

Discussion topics will include how the terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023 and the war in Gaza have impacted and changed our relationship with Israel, and what responsibility, pluralism, power and covenant now require of Progressive Jews in Britain, the Diaspora and Israel. There will also be opportunities for attendees to ask questions.

En memoria de la Shoá y del heroísmo del pueblo judío. 19 de abril. Levantamiento del Gueto de Varsovia

El antisemitismo no fue erradicado tras el horror n**i del Holocausto y siguió manifestándose en muy diversas formas, ámbitos y acciones, incluido el terrorismo, tras el final de la II Guerra Mundial. Y adoptó nuevas expresiones como sucedió después del reconocimiento internacional del derecho de autodeterminación del pueblo judío, concretado en la creación del Estado de Israel, negando su derecho a existir pese a la declaración de la ONU en su Resolución 181.

La heroicidad de los combatientes judíos frente al n**ismo y el fascismo durante este periodo decisivo para las libertades democráticas en Europa, es una contribución escasamente reconocida, que prosiguió con nuevos compromisos de lucha contra el antisemitismo y en defensa de los Derechos Humanos universales, que alcanzaban a todas las esferas de la vida frente al odio, la discriminación, la hostilidad y la violencia alentados por islamistas y neocomunistas junto a restos del fascismo.

La masacre terrorista del 7 de octubre del 2023 en Israel, realizada por Hamas y el islamismo yihadista, señalo el proceso de emergencia del antisemitismo global que ya venía precedido de señales políticas y sociales diversas a nivel mundial, incluidos terribles episodios terroristas, que prefiguraron la actual ola mundial de antisemitismo cuyo crecimiento y alcance aún no está determinado.

Y además, en estos momentos críticos para el pueblo judío y la civilización democrática cuya existencia va intrínsecamente unida, vivimos en todos los lugares del mundo la emergencia de RESISTENCIA CIVIL Y DE LUCHA CONTRA EL ANTISEMITISMO GLOBAL en defensa de la dignidad y los Derechos Humanos Universales.

Es momento de referenciar, de simbolizar, de animar este combate y nada mejor que significarlo en el 19 de abril, día del heroico levantamiento heroico en el Gueto de Varsovia contra el opresor n**i y, también, de recuerdo de la Shoá y sus víctimas en Israel en estas fechas, convirtiéndole en un llamamiento universal de lucha contra el antisemitismo. Invitamos a toda la Humanidad a combatir el antisemitismo y a confluir en esta Jornada Mundial de lucha y resistencia.

Shockingly, in the midst of the war with Iran, on Monday the Knesset made the decision to advance the bill criminalising non-Orthodox prayer at the Kotel (Western Wall). We are therefore re-opening our campaign and asking you all to write to Prime Minister Netanyahu condemning this move which will isolate 85% of the world’s Jewish population from one of our faith’s holiest sites. This affects bar/bat/b’nai mitzvahs, conversions, life-cycle moments, and basic dignity of prayer. It is a backwards step from a democratic Israel that celebrates religious pluralism, where all forms of Jewish identity are celebrated.

"Once again, we find ourselves repeating a basic plea that should not have to be said in the twenty-first century: Jewish houses of worship are not legitimate targets for anyone’s anger, grievance, or political protest..
..And yet, here we are...
..Today antisemitism is again rising from multiple directions. It appears on the far right and on the far left. It manifests as conspiracy theories about Jewish power, and as ideological rejection of Jewish nationalism. It appears in vandalism, harassment, and increasingly, in violence. Part of the tragedy is that hatred of Jews has always been fueled by the same dangerous myths—that Jews are uniquely powerful, disloyal, or responsible for the world’s problems—and today those ancient conspiracies often merge with modern political anger at Israel. The Iranian regime has elevated this hatred into state ideology, openly denying Israel’s right to exist and repeatedly declaring that the “Zionist regime” must be eliminated, a position rooted in the revolutionary ideology that emerged after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and continues to shape its regional strategy today...
..Because a synagogue is not a battlefield. A preschool is not a proxy for geopolitics....

The world must finally learn this basic truth: attacking Jews will not bring justice to anyone. It will only repeat one of humanity’s oldest and most shameful patterns.

Noche histórica: Israel y Hamás firmaron la primera fase del acuerdo de cese de fuego

El presidente Donald Trump anunció oficialmente la firma del acuerdo: “Los secuestrados serán liberados muy pronto.” • El primer ministro Netanyahu escribió: “Con la ayuda del Eterno — los traeremos a todos de regreso.”

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, declaró esta noche (jueves) oficialmente la firma del acuerdo entre Hamás e Israel. En su comunicado oficial escribió:

“Estoy muy orgulloso de anunciar que Israel y Hamás han firmado la primera fase de nuestro plan de paz. Esto significa que todos los rehenes serán liberados muy pronto, e Israel retirará sus fuerzas hasta una línea acordada, como primeros pasos hacia una paz sólida, duradera y eterna.

¡Todas las partes serán tratadas con justicia! Este es un gran día para el mundo árabe y musulmán, para Israel, para todos los países de la región y para los Estados Unidos de América. Agradecemos a los mediadores de Catar, Egipto y Turquía, que trabajaron con nosotros para hacer posible este acontecimiento histórico y sin precedentes. ¡Dichosos los que hacen la paz!”.
