The 23rd General Chapter of the Benedictine Congregation of St Ottilien has elected a new Abbot President.
The election became necessary after our previous Abbot President was elected Abbot Primate last September.
We warmly congratulate our new Abbot-President Javier Aparicio Suárez on his election and wish him God's guidance for a beneficial work in our Congregation and the whole Church.

Yesterday marked the end of our visitation which began on monday. Rt. Rev. Abbot Michael from Münsterschwarzach Abbey in Germany and currently the acting Abbot President of our congregation, Rt. Rev. Abbot Martin Pambo from Mvimwa Abbey in Tanzania and Rev. Fr. Javier the mission procurator from St Ottilien, all members of congregation council, arrived on Sunday and began their work on monday by visiting our Bishop of Ismailia, meeting each confrere in the community and later on having a community meeting. Several issues were discussed which focused mainly on the way forward of this noble foundations. Abt Michael and Fr Javier left yesterday on Wednesday and today on Thursday Abt Pambo goes back to Tanzania.

The apex of this visitation was the celebration of the Holy mass by Abbot Pambo where they prayed for our young missionary Br Martin, from Tigoni Abbey in Kenya, who is going back to his monastery after dedicating his tireless efforts and services to this foundation for several years. May God bless him in his future endeavors.

Today we completed putting the grills on the stairs of our house in Ismailia. This will ensure the safety of the monks and all friends who come to the monastery. We thank our bursar Br Martin for implementing this project.

Also, Br Anthony being a professional electrician installed the ceiling fans in all the rooms in the monastery to create airflow in our rooms this summer and years to come. Many thanks to God for this gifted brother in our monastery.

Our confrere Fr Joseph OSB celebrates his birthday today. At the peak of the celebrations this evening which was marked by the cake cutting, was the arrival of Rt. Rev. Abbot Michael OSB, from our monastery in Germany, who will be here with us for some days (What a great joyous coincidence)

Happy birthday Abouna Joseph and most welcome Abbot Michael.
