Mary Magdalene stood outside the tomb crying with nothing left. She was not there for gifts. She was not there with expectations. She was there with her heart open and empty.

Her whole life had been Christ, and Christ had been taken from her.

It is like having your heart removed from your body—the body doesn’t know how to function.

It was there, in that emptiness—not seeking gifts, not trying to achieve anything—that Christ appeared and spoke her name.

Elder Aimilianos entered the monastery as a young man, spiritually an infant. Within nine months, he left a spiritual Geronda.

Why? Because with a searching heart, he too emptied himself to such a degree that God could not resist filling him.

Emptiness is what they had in common.

Not strength. Not achievement. Not even clarity.

An emptiness that says: “I cannot live without You.”

If our existence becomes so willingly empty that we genuinely cannot live without His presence—if we come before God and say: “There is nothing left in me. There is nothing else I can do to approach you. Here I am, in this emptiness, because I love You”—then these are the moments when miracles happen.

We must ask ourselves: Do we have this emptiness?

If not, it is not a condemnation. It simply means that our prayer is still growing.

And so—we keep going.

—Bishop Emilianos

At night, when people in the world go to sleep, three thousand monks on Mount Athos wake up to begin their nightly prayer for the whole world.

Every time you go to sleep, or while other people begin a different kind of wakefulness—going to bars or discos—the monks on Mount Athos stay awake all night to save the modern world from perdition with their prayer.

And if you cannot fall asleep at night and take medicine for insomnia, remember this and pray.

The Archbishop of Athens on Tuesday condemned the desecration of a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon, warning that war-driven violence risks deepening divisions and harming innocent civilians.

Archbishop Ieronymos II expressed “deep concern” over the incident, which involved damage to a statue depicting the crucified Jesus, and questioned the motives behind the act, according to Orthodox Times.
