Beloved Friends in Christ,
As we gather in this sacred season, our hearts are drawn to the unfolding beauty of God’s redemptive plan, one that moves from palm branches to the empty tomb, from cries of “Hosanna!” to the triumphant declaration, “He is risen!”
Because He Lives, We Have a Living Hope
On that first Palm Sunday, our Lord Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem not as a conquering general, but as a humble King: “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey…’” (Matthew 21:5). The crowds rejoiced, crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” (Matthew 21:9). Yet many misunderstood Him. They longed for deliverance from Rome, but He came to deliver from sin. They desired a throne, but He was heading toward a cross. And still today, the question remains: will we receive Him as He truly is, our Savior and King?
Palm Sunday leads us inevitably to Calvary. There, the King who was welcomed with palms was crowned with thorns; the One who was praised was pierced. Yet the cross is not a tragedy, it is a triumph. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). At the cross, justice and mercy meet, sin is paid for, and grace flows freely.
But the story does not end there. On the third day, the stone was rolled away, not to let Him out, but to show us that He is no longer there. “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said” (Matthew 28:6). Death has been defeated, sin has lost its power, and the grave has no victory: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55). Because He lives, we have a living hope.
This is not merely history, it is deeply personal. Because of Jesus Christ, your sins can be forgiven, your past redeemed, your future secured, and your life transformed. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).
This season invites us not just to observe, but to respond. Will we merely wave palm branches, or will we bow our hearts? Will we admire Him, or will we trust Him?
“The resurrection is not merely a fact to be believed, it is a life to be lived.”
Because He rose, we do not walk in despair, but in joy; not in fear, but in victory; not in death, but in life everlasting.
Dear friends, let this Palm Sunday and Easter fill your hearts with renewed awe and joy. Behold your King. Receive His grace. Rejoice in His victory. And go forth proclaiming with confidence and gladness: Christ is risen indeed!
